Why This Actress Doesn’t Want Any Reboots of Her Work
By Movieguide® Contributor
Many stars are enthusiastic about potential reboots of projects they’ve been a part of, but for Patricia Heaton, it would be messing with “perfection.”
“Where’s my reboot?” the actress joked in an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment. “Why didn’t I ever get on a show that could be rebooted? Because it seems like everybody [else is].”
However, Heaton was quick to agree with EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND co-star Ray Romano about a potential reboot of the sitcom.
“It was just sort of perfection — and you don’t wanna mess with perfection. You know, we’ve lost so many cast members, you couldn’t reboot it because it won’t be the same show,” she explained.
In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Romano said he feels “protective” over EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND.
“Just because it was very personal to me,” he said. “I mean, it was based on my life and I was such a part of the creative side of it and all.”
Heaton feels the same way about THE MIDDLE, also calling it “perfection.”
“The way they wrapped it up, where we got to flash-forward in the lives of the Heck family and see where they all ended up, it was so beautiful, and I think people have such a good feeling about the show,” she said.

Heaton is currently promoting her latest project, THE UNBREAKABLE BOY, which she stars in alongside Zachary Levi, Meghann Fahy and Jacob Laval.
“I’ve been a big supporter of [the autism] community for my whole life,” she shared, explaining why she decided to join the movie. “I have one son who had learning differences, and just that small thing can really just make you so worried. And I thought to myself, ‘What about these parents who have a myriad of these differences in their children, and where did they turn?’”
Heaton continued, “I always worry about my kids and how they’re gonna be in the world without me, and my kids are fine. How about families that have these issues? That’s why a movie like this was so important when it came along. I wanted to be a part of it, because it’s a story of triumph, and people need to see that.”

Speaking to CBN at the movie’s premiere, Heaton said, “The story is wonderful and it’s a true story, and it’s a story about a struggle that many families experience today — a child on the spectrum or even just if your kid has learning differences.”
She continued, “You see a story where the struggles are not sugarcoated, but it’s hopeful and redemptive at the end.”
