Sadie Robertson Huff Reveals How This Verse Applies to Young People Today

Sadie Robertson Huff encourages young people to live a life as an example for God.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young,” she began a recent speech, quoting Paul’s message to Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:12. “But it doesn’t stop there, it’s not just ‘oh yeah, don’t let anyone look down on you because you’re young, don’t let people make fun of you, stand strong’…No. He says, ‘but set an example in faith, in speech, in purity, in love, and then he says ‘and keep teaching the word, proclaiming the word, go out and teach the scripture of the word.’”
1 Timothy 4:12 reads, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
Huff continued, “Young people, I just want to tell you, and I want to remind you, that the world is watching you. You’re not just being watched on Instagram and TikTok… you’re being watched in how you worship. You’re being watched in how you repent, how you confess, how you walk. Does the fruit of God exude out of your life? Do people look at you and…go ‘Wow, I feel so loved when I’m around them, so much joy, so much peace.’ How does someone so young have so much self-control? Because the Spirit of God is in your life.”

Huff explained that in order to live a life with so much joy and peace, we need to walk in the Spirit of God.
“When you walk in the Spirit of God, it will set an example to those who look at you,” she said. “They’re not looking down at you, they’re looking at you going, ‘What happened to you?’ And you get to say, ‘I heard the word, the word changed me.’”
Huff also posted a clip of the message to her Instagram account. In the caption, she said, “Paul’s words to Timothy are so powerful for Gen Z and younger audiences to hear today! …God has given you the authority to do so! I’d love to hear your thoughts on how you can set an example right now.”
