Country singer Chris Janson feels closest to God and his family when he spends time outdoors hunting and fishing.

“I’ve hunted with both of my sons and one of my daughters,” Janson told Fox News Digital. “It’s one of the greatest experiences of my life, and the thing that I probably treasure the most outside of my marriage.”

Janson and his wife, Kelly Lynn, share daughter Georgia and son Jesse. His wife is also mom to two adult children. Janson explained that his 11-year-old son is like a “mini-me.”

“Having my youngest son is like a second me,” the singer said. “I know people say all the time…your kids are carbon copies, but truly, my son is a carbon copy of me…We think alike. We walk alike; we talk alike…we hunt alike. It’s one of the greatest opportunities I’ve ever had and privileges in life.”

“We hunt and fish every chance we get…if you don’t find us on stage…you’re probably going to find us somewhere hidden off in the woods, hunting, fishing, living the conservationist lifestyle. It’s really important to me,” the country singer added.

“There’s something about being outside, breathing fresh air, listening to birds sing… It calms me down,” he previously told US Newspaper of his love of the outdoors.

Being outside is a key part of Janson’s faith, too.

“A lot of people find God in certain places. I happened to find Him in those moments…If it was not in my life, I don’t know that I would be the kind of man that I am today,” he reflected.

In an episode of the “Jesus Calling Podcast,” Janson and his wife talked about the importance of prayer in their life.

“I think through our family, it gives us all peace knowing that God is always there and you can talk to Him, no matter where you are. It gives confidence. It gives peace,” Kelly said. “The power of prayer — I mean, we do it before our kids get out of the car in the mornings. We hold their hands and we pray. It might be very quick.”

“She helped me with that, to be really clear, because when we first got together and still now, a lot of times over the last eleven years, I’ll be like, ‘Do you think God’s got it?’ In reference to whatever it may be: music, singles, it doesn’t matter what it is. ‘Do you think God’s got it?’ She’s like, ‘Are you crazy? Of course!’ And it’s so true,” Janson added.

“I saw God when our children were born. I saw God when we got married. I saw God when I was sleeping in the back of a car. I mean, I’ve seen Him in so many things. I see Him all around me. And it’s such a powerful thing that that’s where it comes from. I mean, how could you deny it?” he continued.
