Hallmark alum Cindy Busby is so excited to join WHEN HOPE CALLS for a second season and portray a very strong female.
“I’m very excited to be playing Nora Anderson, who is a lawyer in the 1920s, no less, from San Francisco and most of her family has passed away and she finds out that she had some family living in Brookfield. So, she makes the trip to go and find this family she didn’t know that she had and enters Brookfield not knowing if she’ll be accepted.” Busby told Movieguide®.
“To get to play Nora, who is such, you know, a strong, smart, really loving character, was so amazing, especially because of the time period,” Busby continued. “So I was really excited.”
Since debuting in 2020, fans have been clamoring for more WHEN HOPE CALLS content. Though they received a Christmas special in 2021, it wasn’t until last fall that they got news about a second season. Five years later, some of the characters have been reworked and two main characters have been added, Busby’s Nora and Christopher Russell as Mountie Michael.
“I saw that Cindy Busby was going to be a part of the show. And that was it. I was like, ‘You’d better get me on that,’” Russell, who has worked with Busby on multiple projects in the past, told Soaps. “There’s gonna be a little bit of family-oriented fun, there’s gonna be a lot of heart, and let me tell you, there’s gonna be some romance. Some people are gonna fall in love.”
The family-friendly aspect of the show has been a major focus and was one of the reasons Busby was excited to join the production as she hopes that families sit down to watch the episodes together.
“For me, the faith and family is so big, especially nowadays, you know, we want to be able to share projects that we’re a part of that everybody can watch,” she said. “That’s from, you know, children to adults and grandmas and grandpas and everybody comes together. I think that’s really special and I’m so proud to be a part of a show that is capable of doing that.”

The first two episodes of WHEN HOPE CALLS: Season Two are very engaging, offering excellent wholesome content. They drop viewers straight into the action. They also set up storylines that are sure to carry through the rest of the season, pulling viewers even further into the lives of the beloved characters Lillian and Grace. WHEN HOPE CALLS has a strong Christian, moral worldview. Characters talk about praying, miracles and Heaven. They also rely on family and community.
