THE CHOSEN Season 5 just started debuting in theaters across the country, and the cast revealed some of their can’t-miss moments from the new season.
Noah James, who plays Andrew, revealed in a YouTube video that his top moment was “for sure walking into Jerusalem.”
Giavanni Cairo (Thaddeus) agreed with James, saying that the scenes “where we are entering Holy Week and you see thousands and thousands of people welcoming the Messiah and his followers into the city.”
“On camera, it looks so beautiful,” he added. “With the palms waving it’s like…” The video then cuts to Abe Bueno-Jallad (Big James) who said the scene was “epic.”
“It just felt so celebratory,” Bueno-Jallad continued.
Director, writer and series creator Dallas Jenkins said, “It was so humbling to have hundred and hundred of background actors there.”
Episodes 1 and 2 hit theaters on March 28, and within 10 days, THE CHOSEN has earned nearly $18 million at the box office, according to Box Office Mojo.
“This is our most kick-butt content yet because we cover joy, pain, loyalty, betrayal, excitement, anger, sadness and fear, sometimes within one episode,” Jenkins said in an Instagram post talking about the new season.
“It’s Holy Week, the most impactful and famous week in human history. Jerusalem is a powder keg with all of Jesus’ followers, enemies and over a million Passover pilgrims packed into one small place,” he continued. “He shows sides of Himself we’ve never seen till now — turning over tables, literally cracking the whip, and weeping with heartbreak but also love. He also confuses His followers at every turn…and to what end?”
Jenkins hopes that this season compels viewers to “believe and follow even when you don’t understand.”

“Yes, it’s sad and heartbreaking because we’re getting closer to the cross, but we’re also going to get to see some of the most iconic and deeply moving moments from Scripture,” the director concluded his post. “The triumphal entry, the turning of the tables, the betrayal by Judas, and the Last Supper…all set against the biggest backdrop and sets we’ve ever used with a new widescreen format that demands to be seen on the big screen. But of course, we continue our obsession to humanize and authenticate everyone involved.”
Fans can’t decide yet if the new season is heartbreaking or exhilarating. But we know for sure that Season 5 is a must-watch. Part 1 and Part 2 are available nationwide.
