Actor Beau Bridges explained the piece of advice from his father, Lloyd Bridges, that has stuck with him the most and how he has passed that down to his own kids since becoming a dad himself.

“Just to respect people. That’s what his main thing was,” Beau told Fox News Digital when explaining the most memorable lesson he learned from his father.

Beau’s son Ezekiel grew up learning that same lesson and shared that that is the biggest takeaway he has had as well from his childhood.

“It comes in a lot of different ways,” Ezekiel said. “Respect for the ocean, respect for the planet, respect for the work.”

Showing respect for those they work with has taken the Bridges family a long way and resulted in three generations of stars. By remaining humble, Beau has not only made a positive impact on thousands of people he has worked with but also focused on continually getting better at acting and showing evermore appreciation for storytelling even after 70 years in the industry.

“I keep getting informed with every job I do, watching other people do it. Probably more than anything would be gained even more of a respect for the whole idea of storytelling than I had when I first began,” he told Deadline. “I mean, it’s been happening for thousands of years. People have been telling stories, and when you’re young and you’re first starting, you see it as a business and all this. But I really appreciate being able to be a part of that whole thing. That’s why I really love doing it, I think.”

Beau isn’t the only Hollywood mainstay who believes that respect is crucial for meaningful success. Candace Cameron Bure has previously shared how she believes respect is extremely important, even when having an argument with someone, whether it be online or in-person with a family member or a co-worker.

“If you are like a person that wants to get up and fight, and that gentleness and respect is hard for you to get to, just remember you have full power of that gentleness and respect through the Holy Spirit. If you are in Christ, God gives it to you through the fruit of the spirit,” Bure told the JWLKRS podcast. “He gives you love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control. So, you have it if you ask for it, that’s through God’s strength, not your own.”
