Good Friday is a time to reflect on Jesus’s sacrifices and suffering he endured to forgive our sins during the crucifixion, offering salvation to a fallen world. As we pause to pray and honor Him, we’ve compiled a list of remarkable movies to watch in honor of the holiday. From blockbusters like THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST to THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, these films will feed your soul. We can’t forget to mention classic movies like THE SONG OF BERNADETTE or the 1979 movie JESUS.
THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST
THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, Mel Gibson’s masterpiece, covers the time period from the Garden of Gethsemane to the Cross and beyond. The movie goes beyond most Passion Plays to highlight in stark, dark, and intense terms the spiritual warfare raging around Jesus Christ during His Passion. It is a must-see movie, beautifully directed and powerfully acted.

BEN-HUR
BEN HUR ranks among the most honored of films, taking 11 of 12 Academy awards. This beautifully crafted film begins with the birth of Christ and demonstrates a journey of faith of one man, Judah Ben-Hur, who goes from prince to prisoner to champion charioteer to Christian. This is a film that every family should see and cherish as a defender of faith and Christian values.

THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER – PART ONE
THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER – PART ONE follows Jesus through the first days of Holy Week, from Palm Sunday to Jesus at the Temple, with the Pharisees and two political leaders planning how they’ll dispose of Jesus and disband his movement. THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER – PART ONE is very entertaining while also remaining faithful to the Bible and stressing the messages highlighted by Jesus Christ in his final days.

THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER – PART TWO immerses viewers in the days leading to the arrest of Jesus in a profoundly moving and spiritual way, setting the table masterfully for the Last Supper.

THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER – PART THREE is the final theatrical installment of Season Five of the popular series about Jesus Christ, and takes viewers through the planned betrayal of Jesus, the Last Supper, and up to the arrest of Jesus by Roman soldiers and Jewish Temple guards, led by Judas. THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER – PART THREE continues to retell the story of Jesus Christ, the greatest story ever told, with strong performances and in a visually attractive way, but it’s yet to reveal the incredible suffering that Jesus will endure, and it has some scary images, violence and extremely sad story elements, so caution is advised for younger children.

Dr. Tony Evans and his family. JOURNEY WITH JESUS has a very strong Christian, biblical worldview with nothing objectionable.

THE NATIVITY STORY tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ in a dramatic, authentic manner. It is one of those very rare movies that brings the Gospel alive in a compelling, interesting, entertaining manner that shatters expectations.

FULL OF GRACE
FULL OF GRACE tells the story of Mary and Peter after Jesus’ ascension. Peter doubts his abilities to defend Christianity, but Mary provides wisdom to help him continue in his calling. Although a bit slow, FULL OF GRACE is beautifully made and brings a fresh perspective to the Gospel story.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
Cecil B. DeMille’s 1956 masterpiece, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS has been restored and put on Blu-Ray. It tells the story of Moses and the deliverance of the Hebrews from the slavery of the Egyptians. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS is clearly a magnificent achievement in the history of film, with superb performances by Charlton Heston and Yul Brynner, wonderful direction by DeMille, and a theological, biblical power.

THE LAST SUPPER
THE LAST SUPPER tells the story of Jesus Christ’s suffering, death and resurrection, beginning with His entrance into Jerusalem and cleansing of the Temple, followed by the events of the Last Supper and its aftermath. The movie depicts the torture and crucifixion of Jesus in some scenes of cruelty and violence. There are also several dark scary moments. Caution is recommended for older children.
