Paramount+ just dropped a first look at its NCIS spinoff series NCIS: TONY & ZIVA.
“After Ziva’s apparent death, Tony raises their daughter, Tali. Years later, Ziva returns and reunites with Tony. Tony’s company is attacked, and the family travels to Europe, trying to learn who’s after them and to trust each other again,” the show’s synopsis reads, per IMDB.
NCIS: TONY & ZIVA was fist announced by Paramount+ in February 2024. Check out TVLine’s first-look photos from the series in the YouTube video below:
Filming for the show began in the summer of 2024 in Budapest, Hungary; the Canary Islands; and Paris, France.
“The first batch of photos includes looks at Tony alternately thinking about needing some firepower and being a goofball with his kid, Ziva swinging into action the way that she does so well, and both mom and dad spending some quality time with Tali, who’s played by British actress Isla Gie,” TVLine said in the video.
Michael Weatherly returns as Tony DiNozzo, and Cote de Pablo will again play Ziva David.
“It was surprising how Cote and I just fell into this new place with our characters,” Weatherly told TVLine of his connection with de Pablo.
“Informed by the past, illuminated by the present and trying to see a future together. These characters are on the adventure of a lifetime. And hopefully, so is the viewer!” he added.
In May last year, de Pablo explained that the title “makes it really easy, because the fans will know exactly what the show is.”
“I expect intrigue, romance, the background of Europe, impossible situations that will make our lives very complicated,” she continued.
With the highly anticipated show taking longer than fans had hoped, Weatherly took to Instagram to provide a little laughter to those waiting for NCIS: TONY & ZIVA.
“Sometimes TV takes a little bit of time…” the actor wrote alongside a video of a slow-moving turtle.
Series showrunner John McNamara expressed his excitement and gratitude to be working on the new spinoff.
“I’m incredibly grateful to CBS Studios and Paramount+ for the chance to plunge these two beloved characters into a dangerous, fun, romantic, exciting chase across Europe,” the showrunner said. “I’m excited to tell a single, serialized story of intrigue and espionage over 10 episodes, getting the chance to delve more deeply into Tony and Ziva’s complex relationship, their on-again, off-again romance, and the way they manage to co-parent their daughter Tali, heightened by the sudden jeopardy they all find themselves in.”
NCIS: TONY & ZIVA is expected to hit Paramount+ this fall, however an specific date has not been released.
