LL Cool J has made his rounds in the NCIS universe, but now he’s slated to return to the flagship series this season.

The rapper and actor got his start in the show back in 2009 during NCIS Season 6. He also starred in all 14 seasons of NCIS: LOS ANGELES, as well as NCIS: HAWAII.

The NCISverse Instagram announced the news.

A video begins with a blurred background and the words “Guess Who’s Back.” Then a thumb rubs the screen, and the picture becomes clear as LL Cool J steps in and says, “That’s better. Back on set baby. NCIS. Let’s get it.”

“Like no time has passed,” the caption reads.

Fans are thrilled. “Yessssss!!! Way excited! 🔥❤️” one user said in the comment section. Another person added, “Can’t wait!!!”

LL Cool J plays Sam Hanna in the show, a former Navy SEAL who was honorably discharged and now is a “senior chief special warfare operator.” His wife, Michelle Hanna, tragically died from carbon monoxide poisoning in NCIS: LOS ANGELES Season 8.

Now he will appear in episode 18 of NCIS Season 22, which premieres Monday, April 21. The new episode will see the NCIS team in need of Sam’s support after three veterans are murdered in a hotel room. Hanna will help them as they search for the killers.

NCIS star Wilmer Valderrama took to his Instagram to share a trailer of the most recent episode 17 with the caption, “It’s gonna be one of those days at #NCIS Torres, undercover? As a what!?”

Season 22 of NCIS currently stars Valderrama (special agent Nick Torres), Sean Murray (special agent Timothy McGee), Brian Dietzen (Dr. Jimmy Palmer), Katrina Law (special agent Jessica Knight), Diona Reasonover (Kasie Hines), Gary Cole (special agent Alden Parker) and Rocky Carroll (director Leon Vance).

Movieguide® previously reviewed episode 4 of Season 22, titled “Sticks and Stones.” The review reads, “NCIS: ‘Sticks & Stones’ is excellent. It has lots of exciting tension and funny humor.”

This episode also “has a strong Christian worldview. One major character’s Christian faith solves the conflict over launching the tactical nukes.” However, Movieguide® advises caution for older children, primarily for foul language.

NCIS was created as a spinoff of the classic naval investigative show JAG. Since then, it has become massively successful with multiple spinoffs of its own.
