Influencer Clings to Christ Amid Painful Infertility Journey

Influencer Lindsey Gurk revealed Wednesday that she’s been struggling to have another child, but through it all, she knows God is good.

Gurk started a social media video by admitting that she was hesitant to share because she has two healthy children, and her suffering isn’t as much as those who want kids but have none.

“My husband and I have been struggling to have a child for two and a half years…This has been something that’s been on my heart since before my husband and I were even married, and I prayed for the Lord to release it if it is not in his will, and it has not been released,” she shared.

“I know it will happen. I do know what the journey looks like…if this child comes from my body or someone else’s body, if the whole script has been changed for a different purpose,” she said.

She didn’t think she’d stay silent on her infertility as long as she did because she believed her victory would come sooner. She now realizes that it could be helpful to talk about it and knows will happen on God’s timeline.

“It’s easy to share when God makes it all make sense. I thought for a while that’s what I’d do. I’d share an announcement and tell all about how He worked everything for good,” she explained.

“I’ll still share that one day!” Gurk said. “But today I wanted to give a glimpse into what this walk sometimes feels like in the middle… not just the end. Just because it hurts sometimes, that doesn’t mean we’ve stopped trusting.”

Despite everything, no matter what happens, she holds on to the fact that God is still God.

“We will not lose our faith. Above all else, we will not forget where our strength comes from,” she insisted.

Lindsey Gurk says her and her husband’s experience “just means we’re human and we’re learning. (And sometimes throwing an orange juice really helps 🤷🏻‍♀️Thanks for laughing with me and allowing me to open up. I pray this reaches who it’s meant to.”

Many people in the comment section thanked Gurk for opening up. Some focused on her faith, and others sympathized with her infertility journey. Many gave her encouragement.

“Oh sweet Lindsey thank you for sharing. 🧡” said influencer Ally Yost. “I will be interceding and praying for you. i KNOW the Lord has a plan for your family to keep growing. keep hanging onto that faith, my girl. 🫂🫂”

Like Gurk, many Christian couples are struggling with infertility. Influencer Kristen Clark is one woman who shares her experience.

She shared on the “Revive Our Hearts” podcast that she miscarried after two years of trying for a baby.

“My husband and I, for the first time, were facing something really hard in our marriage,” she said. “…We have amazing family and support, but it was so hard for both of us.”

“As we were seeking the Lord’s strength and realizing that that had become an idol, God was helping us to slowly open our hands and surrender that area of our life to Him in a deeper way. We thought we were surrendered, but we weren’t.”

They experienced two more miscarriages, but Clark learned a powerful lesson about faith through her experience.

“I have learned through the fire that how we choose to respond to these hard circumstances will either lead us down a path of sorrow and anxiety, or down a path of joy and contentment. And when we face that unfulfilled longing, that desire, we have a choice we have to make,” she said.

“It’s either going to take us down sorrow and anxiety or joy and contentment in Christ,” she said. “And how we respond, how we look to the Lord, that’s going to determine the path that we walk on.”

Today, Clark is celebrating as a mom to two adopted sons and her miracle baby, Caroline, whom she gave birth to last year.

She shared in a maternity photo post, “My heart is overwhelmed by God’s kind and generous gifts. He was faithful in our sorrow and he is faithful in our rejoicing! We give Him all the praise and glory!!
