ALADDIN actor Will Smith recently revealed that even though he’s reached the top of worldly success, “it doesn’t satisfy.”

“It is such a rare gift to reach the end of the material world…to reach the end of money where you can buy anything you want,” the actor said in a recent interview with Christian rapper Lecrae. ”Whereas buying things used to scratch an itch…to have had all the sex you want to have. How many more number-one movies do I need?”

“How many more Grammys?” he continued. “It’s a rare gift to get to the end of the material world where only God is left.”

He makes a point that nothing in this world can satisfy.

“There’s no country you can go to. There’s no relationship you can start. No new job that’s going to do it…,” the Teddy Bear Award® winner said.

“You get to the end of it. It’s excruciating, but I would wish that on everybody. I wish everybody could get everything they want to see that it doesn’t satisfy.”

Though Smith grew up with an “Old Testament Grandma,” he is not a Christian. He’s read teachings of many religions, but quoted Muhammed Ali: “My religion is love.”

“I believe in the oneness and possibility of harmony between people who are all reaching for the…truth,” he clarified.

Smith does have some gospel-tinged songs, and he performed one of them, called “You Can Make It,” at the BET Awards last summer.

Some of the song’s lyrics are, “The darker the hell you gotta endure / the brighter the heaven you get to enjoy / The harder the fall the higher you soar / God opens a window when the devil closes the door.”

Smith said the song, which he made with Sunday Service Choir and Fridayy, was a message to himself.

“I was really talking to myself,” he told Billboard. “To see so many people resonate with the intention gives me a clear North Star for this next chapter of my creative life.”

When he announced the song on social media, he said, “Through some of my darkest moments, music has always been there for me — to lift me and help me grow. It’s my humble wish that it can do the same for you and bring you all the joy and light you deserve.”

Though Smith doesn’t have a specific religion, it’s clear that he yearns for something deeper. And he’s figured one important lesson out — no earthly thing can truly satisfy.
