Actress Selma Blair is celebrating being “truly relapse-free” from her multiple sclerosis and thinking about what she’s going to do next.

“I am doing amazingly well. I’ve been feeling great for about a year,” she told PEOPLE while attending The Daily Front Row’s 9th Annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards. “I actually have stamina and energy and getting out and going out isn’t so scary.”

Blair was diagnosed with MS in 2018 and has been in remission since 2021. She shared that she is “truly relapse-free” and is “feeling really well,” now thinking about the future.

“It’s funny, I haven’t spent enough time having dreams. And now it’s like, what are my dreams?” she said. “I think maybe since the diagnosis…You’re just tired all the time. I spent so much of my life so tired from being unwell that I think I just was trying to get through the day. And now it’s like, wait, I realize I don’t know what my goals are.”

Blair shared she “would love” to get back into acting, as well as continue to advocate for people with chronic illnesses.

The actress is already set to appear in three upcoming movies: STAY FORTE, THERE THERE and SILENT.

In a statement about STAY FORTE, Blair said, “This film is not just a narrative; it’s a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the bonds that unite us against unimaginable tragedy. I am honored to be part of this journey, which truly reflects the diverse fabric of Israeli society — people of many religions caught in the crossfire of conflict.”

Blair also shared that she would like “to write a young adult book” and already has an idea for a fantasy novel inspired by The Secret Garden. Her first book, a memoir titled Mean Baby, was published in 2022 and went on to become a New York Times bestseller.

Despite being in beloved movies like LEGALLY BLONDE and CRUEL INTENTIONS, Blair recently joked that her son Arthur, 13, doesn’t know anything about her filmography.

“I said, ‘Why don’t you ever want to watch a movie of mine?’ He said, ‘Because all your movies are in black and white,’” she told PEOPLE. “I was like, ‘Pardon? Come again?’ He’s like, ‘Aren’t they?’ I die.”

Blair added, “He thinks that I’m from 1930. I’m not joking. My son thinks all my films are in black and white.”

Fans of Blair’s work are glad to hear she’s doing so much better and excited to see her on their screens again.
