Hollywood, Calif. – The Fifth Annual $50,000 Kairos Prize Contest for Spiritually Uplifting Screenplays by Beginning Screenwriters is underway to its fastest start ever, announced Dr. Ted Baehr of Movieguide®: The Family Guide to Movies and Entertainment.
Presented by MOVIEGUIDE® and supported by a grant from the John Templeton Foundation, the Kairos Prizes each year honor the top three screenwriters who can produce the best screenplays that “greatly increase man’s love or understanding of God.”
“The prizes encourage the brightest new talent to step forward, raising the bar in the family and faith based entertainment markets,” said Dr. Jack Templeton, president of the John Templeton Foundation.
The first deadline for entries is September 7, with the final deadline being November 2.
The winners will have their scripts sent to the top studio executives and producers in Hollywood, including the six major movie studios.
Announcement of the winners will be Feb. 23, 2010 at the 18th Annual Movieguide® Faith & Values Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry, scheduled to be held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.
