The “adult entertainment business” (i.e., the pornography industry) is not only having a tough time battling the current economic recession, it’s also having to fight a growing increase of free content on the Internet.
“It’s the free stuff that’s killing us, and that’s not going away,” said Dion Jurasso, owner of Combat Zone, a pornography company whose business has fallen about 50% in the last three years.
Industry insiders figure that revenue has decreased 30 to 50% since 2007, including a sharp fall in the number of new movies.
“The opportunities in this industry really are disappearing,” says “actress” and stripper Savannah Stern, whose income has gone from $150,000 yearly to only $50,000. “It’s extremely stressful.”
