First Deadline for Fifth Annual $50,000 Kairos Screenwriting Competition Approaches; Final Deadline Is Nov. 2

Hollywood, Calif. – The first deadline for the Fifth Annual $50,000 Kairos Prizes for Spiritually Uplifting Screenplays by First-Time and Beginning Screenwriters is Monday, announced Dr. Ted Baehr, Chairman of The Christian Film & Television Commission®, a sponsor of the competition.

 

Supported by a grant from the John Templeton Foundation, the Kairos Prizes each year honor the top three screenwriters who can produce the best screenplays that “greatly increase man’s love and/or understanding of God.”

 

The Kairos Prize winners will have their scripts sent to the top studio executives and producers in Hollywood, including the six major movie studios.

 

The final deadline for the competition will be Nov. 2. Entry fees are $50 by Monday, Sept. 7, and $75 by Nov. 2.

 

Announcement of the three winners will be made Feb. 23, 2010 at the 18th Annual Movieguide® Faith & Values Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry, scheduled to be held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

 

Dr. Baehr is chairman of the Christian Film & Television Commission® (CFTVC) ministry and publisher of the Commission’s family guide to movies, Movieguide® (www.movieguide.org). CFTVC and Movieguide® are an international non-profit ministry dedicated to “redeeming the values of the entertainment industry according to biblical principles by influencing industry executives and by informing and equipping the public about the influence of the entertainment media.”
