An organization calling itself The Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions recently appointed a Muslim cleric as its new chair.
The kind of “pluralism” that this group (including its very name) represents is an obvious attempt to water down the real distinctions among the world’s religions, and, hence, represents a watering down of the term religion itself.
In that light, it is interesting to note that the Council’s two biggest social reform efforts are destruction of “the excessive consumption that drives ruthless economic development” and focusing on “environmental issues and climate change.”
Of course, the definition of “excessive consumption” is in the eye of the beholder. And, the topic of “climate change” has promoted all sorts of ill-conceived, hysterical proposals designed to squelch man’s future creativity and economic development.
The Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions shows that the world has far more to fear from an energized Religious Left than it does from the Religious Right in America.
