Two-Thirds of Americans Are Church/Synagogue Members

About two-thirds of American adults, 63% or 146.66 million adults, say they are church or synagogue members, according to a December 2009 poll conducted by Gallup.

If one includes the children of those Americans, then that would mean that about 194.42 million people in the United States are members of a church or synagogue! This raises the question, what is the mass media of entertainment, including the “news” media and Hollywood, doing to meet the needs and desires of those 194 million people?

Gallup noted in 2007 that only 17% of Americans, or about 52.46 million people, say they never attend a church service
