5 Reality TV Celebrities Who Are Outspoken About Their Faith

By Movieguide® Contributor

Reality TV can get a bad rap for being raunchy and empty of value. In some cases, that can be true. But praise God, amid all that darkness, God has raised some bright lights in these reality shows. Whether it’s the BACHELOR or BRINGING UP THE BATES, several individuals have used their fame for God’s glory. Here are five reality TV celebrities who are outspoken about their faith.

Ben Higgins

Ben Higgins began his BACHELOR career in 2015, first on BACHELORETTE and later on his season of BACHELOR, rising to stardom and becoming a fan favorite. Higgins has been a beautiful light in the land of influencers as he is outspoken about his Christian faith. He now has a beautiful marriage centered in Christ, and they just welcomed their first baby.

I believe Jesus’ truth. When I cry out to Jesus, in the moments I need Jesus the most, God has always shown up, and not only that, in my biggest moments of doubt,” Higgins said after suffering a breakdown. The point to me that always makes sense is Jesus gave his one clearest commandment: Love your God and love your neighbor. Through my life, sometimes that’s the only that makes sense or fits. If I do that well, I also understand there is a God that loves, [and] life seems to click.

Madison Prewett-Troutt

Madison Prewett-Troutt, affectionately known as “Madi Prew,” became a household name during her Bachelor season pursuing ” Pilot Pete” in 2020. America’s sweetheart, Madi, became known for her commitment to purity, as she was unwilling to lower her standards on the show. She has gone on to get married to Grant Troutt and give birth to her first daughter, Hosanna. After her season on THE BACHELOR, she continued to be outspoken about her faith in Jesus through YouTube, Instagram, podcasts, and books.

“As Christians, we’re all ministers in some way,” Pruitt said on being a Christian influencer. “I believe that we’re all ministering and communicating about something…. For me, being a minister and just sharing my faith is so important. Almost even seeing it as [being] a missionary. I’m on [a] mission and my goal is truly just to encourage as many people as I can with the gospel that has saved me and brought me so much hope and joy and peace and my life. So yeah, I would definitely say to some level, but I probably wouldn’t label myself as a minister. I guess I would say a Bible teacher, or just someone who’s eager to share her faith or to hopefully influence people to want to pursue a relationship with Jesus.”

Jinger Vuolo

Jinger Vuolo, formerly Jinger Duggar, is one of 19 kids on the famous reality TV show 19 KIDS AND COUNTING. Her family was known for being numerous, strict, and regimented according to their faith. Jinger married Jeremy Vuolo, and they now live in Los Angeles. She is active on social media, sharing about her Christian faith. Fans have enjoyed seeing her disentangle her walk with God from the man-made legalism that tainted her faith as a child.

We’re called to serve others sacrificially, just as Christ did,Vuolo said on sharing her spiritual journey. But we can only do that when our worth is secure in Him. I want [people-pleasers] to come to a place where you’re loving others and serving others, you’re able to be a listening ear for people and to be in their lives as Christ was for us sacrificially, laying down our lives, saying,OK, no matter what they think of me, I want to love and serve them. In the end, that is only done through first, a relationship with Christ, knowing Him, loving Him, and He will give you the ability to walk in a way that’s pleasing to Him and not in a way that you’re just seeking to please everyone around you. That brings true freedom.”

Katie Bates

Another reality TV star who comes from a huge family is Katie Bates. Katie is also one of 19 children! Her family rose to stardom through the show BRINGING UP BATES. Today, she and her husband, Travis, have a YouTube channel on which they share their lives through vlogs and point people to God. Whether through songs they share or prayer requests, they constantly encourage their followers on social media to keep their faith and love their families well.

Katie said on Instagram, a few months back, after her son was born, “There’s nothing quite like worshipping Jesus as a family on Sunday mornings! So grateful for this beautiful life we share!”

Sadie Robertson-Huff

Lastly, Sadie Robertson-Huff, known for her reality show with her family, DUCK DYNASTY, has been vocal about her faith for as long as she’s been in the spotlight. She has faithfully followed God and preached on stages worldwide. Sadie has a top-rated Christian podcast and has written several books.

“Everybody has the ability to be an influencer,” Robertson-Huff said about how to stay Christian on social media. I think the problem is we spend hours and hours on social media every day, and because we do that, we’re measuring up with these other people and saying, ‘We’re not good enough. We’re not significant enough. We don’t have enough reach.’ “If you’re looking at social media more than you’re looking at Jesus, you’re going to be confused on the truth about who you are. … The more you learn about who God is, the more you’ll learn about who you are, and the more influence you’ll see that you have.”
