Aaron Rodgers Says He Believes in ‘Power of Prayer’ in Upcoming Docuseries

Netflix ordered docuseries AARON RODGERS: ENIGMA as the New York Jets quarterback returns to the field for the first time following his Achilles injury last year.

The docuseries “will follow Rodgers’ comeback, which kicks off at Levi’s Stadium as the Jets take on the San Francisco 49ers,” Deadline reported.

The “game-day plays and press conferences can only reveal a small part of the four-time MVP’s story,” Netflix wrote of the new series. “AARON RODGERS: ENIGMA, a three-episode documentary series produced by Religion of Sports (SIMONE BILES: RISING), Skydance Sports, and NFL Films, will reveal a side of Rodgers that few get to see on December 17.”

In the trailer, Rodgers discusses what kind of quarterback he is and what exactly happened the night he tore his Achilles. He also reflects on the power of prayer.

“Listen, I believe in the power of prayer and intention, and from the first night this happened, hours after that, I was surrounded by a bunch of really special people in my life, and we just laid down a lot of prayers,” he says.

In his return to the field on Monday, Rodgers and the Jets faced Super Bowl runner-ups the San Francisco 49ers.

Per ESPN, “Rodgers (13-for-21, 167 yards) delivered a few vintage moments, including a 36-yard touchdown pass to Allen Lazard. That came on a free play, his 18th career touchdown pass on free plays. Rodgers threw the ball well, especially on three straight third-down conversations in the first quarter. His worst throw was a deflected pass that was intercepted. His mobility was so-so, as he was sacked once and was under duress at times. Considering the long layoff and rust, this was a respectable performance by the 40-year-old signal-caller.”

The 49ers beat the Jets 32-19.

While Rodgers hasn’t acknowledged God, he does admit that there is a “higher power.” Movieguide® previously reported:

In the podcast, Rodgers puts forth that it’s important to believe in a higher power or conform to a religion.

He said, “To not believe in a higher power means that really nothing we do matters, and ultimately, I live and I die, and that’s it. So whatever purpose you might have, it’s short-lived. It’s just for this. There’s nothing else going on.”

He continued, “I have a hard time with that because I believe there’s a seen world and an unseen world. And there’s forces of good and forces of evil, and that there’s a purpose for all this and there’s a lot of reasons why we’re doing this. There’s a lot of opportunities to do this. I’d like to get it right this time around.”
