Adam Sandler On Acting With Daughters: ‘Always Fun To Be With Family’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Acting is a family affair for Adam Sandler, wife Jackie and their daughters, as they all starred in Netflix’s new animated movie LEO.
“[It’s] always fun to be with my family,” Sandler said of the project. “[Acting is] kind of what they are thinking about getting into and their passion, and so it’s good to learn with them.”
The actor also shared the advice he has given Sadie, 17, and Sunny, 15.
“I tell them to make sure you feel good about what you do and how hard you worked, and you judge yourself,” Sandler shared. “Don’t let too many people try to get in your head. If you feel like you gave it your all, that’s all you can ask.”
Sadie and Sunny might follow in their parents’ footsteps but not too closely. Sandler explained that his daughters “like the serious stuff,” so comedy might not be in their futures.
Earlier this year, Sandler and his daughters also starred in Netflix’s YOU ARE SO NOT INVITED TO MY BAR MITZVAH. They’ve also both appeared in dozens of Sandler’s movies over the years.
“They make it look like I’m forcing them to do it,” he joked during an appearance on THE DREW BARRYMORE SHOW. “Meanwhile, they were asking me the whole year, ‘Can I be in your next movie, Daddy?’”
The pair also appear onstage with their dad while he tours, singing popular songs like Taylor Swift’s “Lover” and THE GREATEST SHOWMAN’s “A Million Dreams.”
“Both my daughters come on stage and sing sometimes because they’re on the road with me all the time,” Sandler said. “They like to sing…and they see Daddy up there, and they’re like, ‘Can I try that?’ So I say, ‘Get on up there.’ Whatever they’re excited about in their lives, I’ll back them up.”
