AI is Coming to iPhones — What You Need to Know

Artificial Intelligence is popping up everywhere, and now it’s coming to your iPhone.
Apple announced that with the iOS 18 update, it will launch “Apple Intelligence.” This feature is created in partnership with ChatGPT and Open AI.
MSN reported, “Apple Intelligence is the catch-all name for the iPhone maker’s AI capabilities, including ChatGPT-4o integration coming with its iOS 18 software upgrade. The first iteration of iOS 18 will debut alongside Apple’s iPhone 16 models in September, but the AI features are arriving later, in the iOS 18.1 update expected in mid- to late October.”
Apple AI will include suggested replies in Messenger, transcription on phone calls and updated writing tools. However, these are just the beginning.
Next year, the tech giant will launch “Image Playground — the ability to create your own animated images within apps — and custom emoji, called Genmoji.”
“With Image Playground, users will be able to generate images related to concepts and people from their conversations in the Messages app, or of people from their photo library,” Apple Insider reported.
Siri will become a little more intelligent as well. “AI enhancements to Apple’s chatbot Siri include ChatGPT integration, richer language understanding and deeper integration with individual apps,” MSN said. Now, everyone’s favorite voice will be able to discuss your calendar, photos and messages with you.
Apple also shares updates to its privacy capabilities.
“Apple Intelligence is designed to protect your privacy at every step,” the tech giant shares. “It’s integrated into the core of your iPhone, iPad, and Mac through on-device processing. So it’s aware of your personal information without collecting your personal information. And with groundbreaking Private Cloud Compute, Apple Intelligence can draw on larger server-based models, running on Apple silicon, to handle more complex requests for you while protecting your privacy.”

Apple’s Siri might be getting a new and even more powerful friend.
“Siri will remain as your personal digital assistant on devices such as the iPhone 16 and M-series Macs such as the imminent M4 Macs, and with the arrival of Apple Intelligence in the next versions of iOS, iPadOS and macOS, Siri should become considerably smarter and more responsive. But Apple is reportedly creating a second, separate digital personality. If this were a movie, Siri would be Wall-E and the new personality would be Eve,” T3 reported.
Apple is currently working on “another humanlike interface based on generative AI. It could run on the tabletop product and other future Apple robotics devices,” Bloomberg explained.
Though its robotics program is still in early stages, the tech giant has a test case in the works — a tabletop device codenamed J595.
