Al Roker Celebrates Son’s 21st Birthday: ‘This Young man Changed our Lives’

Weatherman for The TODAY Show, Al Roker, shared an emotional tribute to his son, Nick, for Nick’s 21st birthday.
Roker posted a montage video on his Instagram and wrote, “Wow. #andjustlikethat 21 years ago, this young man changed our lives. Nick Roker, I love you and you make me so proud. #happybirthday Nick.”
The video included baby pictures to graduation pictures of Nick with Vanessa Williams’ “Oh How the Years Have Gone by” playing in the background.
Savannah Guthrie, Roker’s co-host, commented on the post and said, “An incredible young man – and he learned from the best ❤️.”
In a previous post on Instagram, Roker shared a side by side of him and his son, Nick. Roker couldn’t believe how fast his son was growing up.
The first photo featured the two posing for a picture from a 2014 vacation. The second is a more recent picture from the same vacation spot.
Roker wrote, “Really not much difference when Nick and I were here in 2014 and today, right? #thenandnow #pollypocketdad.”
Alexis Jones of PEOPLE reported, “Along with Nick, Roker and his wife Deborah Roberts share a daughter, Leila, 24. Roker is also dad to daughter Courtney, 36, from a previous relationship.”
Jones added, “Last August, the Today anchor and the ABC News Senior National Affairs correspondent, 61, enjoyed yet another bittersweet moment with Nick as they dropped him off to start his freshman year of college.”
Deborah Roberts, Roker’s wife, posted a photo of herself, Roker and Nick in front of a packed car ready to take Nick to college.
Roberts wrote, Wednesday wonder. After all the hard work. All the discipline. All the dreaming. All the prayers. His moment to soar has come. (I’m not crying. I promise. ?). Pride doesn’t even begin to describe this day Nick Roker. The journey continues. #gratitude#family #love #journey.”

“And just like that! Nick Roker: High School graduate from the [Aaron School],” Roker captioned his post. “We are sooo proud of this young man.”
Deborah added, “What a day this had been! A heart full of joy and gratitude! Happy graduation day Nick Roker. Your village has never failed!”
Roker reflected on the moment while appearing on the TODAY SHOW.
“It was difficult. We’re so proud of him, all the work he’s done, the people who have helped him along the way. It literally does take a village,” he shared. “It was a terrific moment and he’s put in so much hard work and I’m just so very proud of this young man.”
