Alan Ritchson Confirms REACHER Season 3

By Movieguide® Contributor

REACHER will return for a third season, and star Alan Ritchson just revealed which Lee Child book the next season will be based on.

“Sometimes there’s more to lobstah than just ice-cold lobstah!” Ritchson wrote on Instagram.

A few days ago, the actor teased the next season with a picture of a lobster. “Details matter season 3 of #Reacher… especially at crafty,” he said.

Based on the post, his followers guessed Season 3 would be based on Child’s book “Persuader,” which is set in Maine.

“‘Pursuader’ is one of the best books there is. I can’t wait for you to see this season,” Ritchson said.

While Season 3’s storyline hasn’t been announced, a synopsis of the book shares some details about what it could entail:

Jack Reacher lives for the moment. Without a home. Without commitment. And with a burning desire to right wrongs—and rewrite his own agonizing past. DEA Susan Duffy is living for the future, knowing that she has made a terrible mistake by putting one of her own female agents into a death trap within a heavily guarded Maine mansion.

Staging a brilliant ruse, Reacher hurtles into the dark heart of a vast criminal enterprise. Trying to rescue an agent whose time is running out, Reacher enters a crime lord’s waterfront fortress. There he will find a world of secrecy and violence—and confront some unfinished business from his own past.

Screen Rant reported, “As is tradition with Child’s novels, Pursuader features an all-new cast of characters for Reacher to interact with. This means that REACHER season 2 cast members like Serinda Swan, and Shaun Sipos will likely not be returning. Season 2 did, however, bring back Maria Sten as Neagaley and Malcolm Goodwin as Finlay, both characters who were featured in season 1, suggesting that the show could always bring back some familiar faces in the seasons ahead.”

While Reacher seems like more of a team player in Season 2, “Persuader” shows the titular character going rogue and acting alone, much like Season 1.

Movieguide® nominated REACHER’s episode 2.5: “Burial” for the Best Television Episode for Mature Audiences because of its strong Christian worldview. Part of the review reads:

Episode Five of REACHER: Season Two is an exciting, slam-bang episode. Season Two is one of the more gripping action series available on the major streaming outlets. Best of all, Episode Five has strong Christian, pro-family, patriotic values and overt references to resurrection and eternal life through Jesus. The best scenes, which are extremely moving and uplifting, are smack dab in the middle of Episode Five. However, MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution because of strong foul language and intense violence involving ruthless, murderous terrorists in Episode Five of REACHER: Season Two.

The 31st Annual MOVIEGUIDE® Faith & Values Awards Gala & Report to the Entertainment Industry will take place on Feb. 9.
