Alexa and Carlos PenaVega Talk Regrets: God Will ‘Use Them for Good’

Alexa and Carlos PenaVega Talk Regrets: God Will ‘Use Them for Good’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Actors Alexa and Carlos PenaVega got candid about regrets in a recent video on their YouTube channel. They have different views on their pasts, but both agree they’re happy with who they are now.

“I have no regrets because I may make some dumb choices in my life, but all of them led to who I am today. And I’m actually really happy with who I’ve become so far and who I’m becoming,” Carlos shared. “I actually don’t see them as regrets. I see them as not…the wisest choices.”

Alexa disagrees. She does have regrets and looks at her mistakes differently. She believes she could have still become the person she is if she had walked with God as He intended, and it would have been better for her.

“I believe that God directs our steps, right? And when we fall outside of the directions that God is giving us, that’s when we fall into the stupid seasons of our lives that we were never supposed to walk through,” the SPY KIDS actress said.

“Now what’s amazing about God is that he will absolutely take any of those seasons and use them for good if you allow him to,” she continued. “So I have no doubt that the things that I’ve gone through, he has turned around and made them testimonies as opposed to things that have pulled me down.”

“Do I live in my regrets? No. But if he gave me an opportunity to go back and change them, I would’ve walked with him in alignment sooner, which would have still led me to you and our children,” Alexa told Carlos.

Movieguide® previously reported on how the actors’ paths crossed:

One day while in a dark place spiritually, Carlos called his friend out of desperation.

Carlos recalled: “I said, ‘Hey, Andrew, why are you so happy?’ I just asked him. And he turned around. He was like, ‘Oh, I got Jesus in my life.’ And before he could finish ‘Jesus,’ I hung up the phone. I was like, ‘I don’t need to hear that.’ And a couple more days go by and I call him and I say, ‘Okay, I’m sorry I hung up. Tell me more.’ He says, ‘You know, Jesus…’ I was kind of hesitant, but I said, ‘Right, well, what do I do?’ And he goes, ‘Well, maybe just come to church with me on Sunday.’”

Carlos took up his friend’s offer and went to church with him. He instantly felt connected with the pastor’s message and felt like it related to him.  From there he began attending Bible studies with the same friend who had invited him to church.

It was at this Bible study he met his wife, Alexa.

“We literally got to work on our relationship with God at the same time that we were working on our personal relationship with each other,” Pena Vega told Jason Romano on the SportsSpectrum podcast. “It was really cool because our whole [time of] dating was founded in us going to Bible study and going to church. Everything was founded in Christ which was so amazing.”

Their foundation in Christ from the start of their relationship impacts the way they live their lives now.

Carlos told CBN earlier this year, “I really do believe that God has a huge calling on mine and Alexa’s life, and we’re just going to continue powering through.”
