Alexa PenaVega Shares Pregnancy Scare: ‘God Allowed Me To Stay Okay’

Alexa PenaVega is updating fans on a scary situation during her current pregnancy.
“Basically what happened — I wasn’t doing anything strenuous. I was literally just cooking in the kitchen, I wasn’t stressed,” she said in an Instagram video. “And it was almost like a gushing feeling, like my water breaking. There was so much blood.”
PenaVega continued, “In that moment, I was [thinking] about having this peace, that God just allowed me to stay okay and stay confident in Him because, at the end of the day, it was out of my control.”
She set up an appointment for an ultrasound but couldn’t get someone to see her for almost three days. During that time, she prayed over her baby.
“God, you’re in control of whatever is going to happen now. I know that you will always use for good, even if it’s hard or even if it hurts, so God, just be with me now and continue to give me Your peace and continue to give me Your grace when I do fall short,” PenaVega prayed.
After having an ultrasound, PenaVega found out that her baby was “totally fine” and that the cause of the blood was a 4-centimeter tear, an issue she had dealt with while pregnant with Rio, 2.
PenaVega and husband Carlos announced the pregnancy last year in a joint Instagram post, writing, “Thank God we love adventures ??? Oh baby here we come! Número cuatro!”
The couple share Ocean, 6, Kingston, 4, and Rio.
PenaVega has previously spoken about the importance of parenthood and giving your children your all.
“[As a parent] you become a servant,” she explained. “At least for those first few years, your intention has to be with those kids.”
PenaVega continued, “Parents have to be in a really good place so that the kids get the best version of them. If the parents are not in a good place, you’re gonna get a half-butt parent, a parent that’s not all there. I want my kids to get a full version of me — an alive, fulfilled version of me. I know that’s not always the case, but do whatever it takes to fill your cup.”

Alexa PenaVega discussed the ups and downs of marriage in a recent interview.
“I’ve always told people, I’m like, ‘The truth is marriage is this beautiful, holy thing. It’s a sacred thing. And you go through bumps,’” Alexa said of her marriage to Carlos PenaVega. “There was a time in our marriage where if we were not married, we would have broken up.”
She continued, “But that’s the beauty of marriage. You fight through it, you fix it, you work on it. And I feel like we’re stronger than ever because of those bumps. Even though they were hard seasons, we pushed through, and we soared.”
PenaVega explained that, while she and her husband have different approaches to situations and problems, “prayer has been a huge thing” for their relationship.
“Life gets tough. It’s really, really hard,” she said. “But taking that moment to just sit down and really kind of communicate. I know that sounds so cliche, but it’s true. It’s when we’re not communicating very well that we start to hit bumps in the road.”
