Alexa PenaVega Shares Heartfelt Mother’s Day Message After Stillbirth: ‘Extra Blessed’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Actress Alexa PenaVega shared a heartfelt Mother’s Day message following the stillbirth of her daughter last month.
“Happy Mama’s day to all the beautiful mamas out there,” she posted on her Instagram Story. “Whether you have your little angels in your arms today… or little heavenly angels or both… may you be lovingly celebrated and feel extra blessed to be right where you are!”
PenaVega and her husband, Carlos, shared the devastating news of their daughter, Indy’s, death on April 15.
“There are never the right words to say when it comes to loss,” the PenaVegas wrote. “After a beautiful and peaceful delivery our daughter ‘Indy’ was born at rest. It has been a painful journey. But in the pain we have found peace. God continues to comfort and hold us in his arms. The prayers from the community around us have been so sustaining in this difficult season.”
Candace Cameron Bure commented on the couple’s post, saying “We love you. We love baby Indy. We are praying for you and Los and the kids and the day you all reunite ❤️❤️❤️. With all our hearts, we are here for you!!!! ??????”
“My heart is absolutely broken for you guys. You are not alone in your grief. We are here for you and love you both. ❤️,” YouTuber Elizabeth Howard said.
The PenaVegas are getting ready for their first Great American Family movie, MR. MANHATTAN, to release later this month.
“MR. MANHATTAN tells the story of successful lawyer Mason Bradley (Carlos), who believes there’s nothing he can’t handle. That is, until he gets the news that his brother and sister-in-law died and made Mason their children’s legal guardian,” a synopsis reads.
“Even though he has zero parenting experience, he steps into his new role with can-do bravado, but between a demanding new client and moving his niece and nephew into his not-exactly-child-friendly Manhattan loft, it’s not long before Mason realizes he needs help. The kids want that help to come from their mom’s best friend and hometown babysitter, Dani (Alexa) – who also happens to be Mason’s ex-fiancé,” the summary continues.
“Carlos and Alexa are audience favorites and so beloved for their commitment to family on and off the screen, which is the foundation of MR. MANHATTAN. And we are excited about a number of additional projects in development with these two enormously talented actors,” GAF CEO Bill Abbott said, per PR Newswire.
Movieguide® previously reported on what it’s like for the couple to work together:
Hollywood power couple Alexa and Carlos PenaVega sat down for a candid conversation on “The Unplanned Podcast” with hosts Matt and Abby Howard.
The duo are vocal about their faith and cover topics ranging from marriage to the realities of working in the entertainment industry. They discussed what it’s like to co-star in Hallmark movies as a married couple and how much they enjoy the creative freedom.
“It’s awesome,” Alexa said. “It’s hard when he’s a diva on set. Please, no way. I’m joking. I’m totally joking. No, it’s great because we know our limits.”
“If I’m working with another guy, I don’t know how much I can play around with him. I don’t know how much, like, okay, like if I ad lib is he going to be able to go back and forth with me or is he going to be kind of stuck.” She went on to say that other actors are like deer in headlights when she changes the lines and that listening is a crucial part of acting in a scene.
