Alexa PenaVega Shares Pregnancy Prayer: ‘Grow Through This’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Alexa PenaVega is updating fans on her pregnancy journey as she prepares for Baby No. 4.
“I just want to tell you guys that I’m feeling great. I’m doing really well,” she began. “I went through a really, really rough first trimester.”
PenaVega previously posted about a tear that caused her to think she was miscarrying. Movieguide® reported:
PenaVega continued, “In that moment, I was [thinking] about having this peace, that God just allowed me to stay okay and stay confident in Him because, at the end of the day, it was out of my control.”
She set up an appointment for an ultrasound but couldn’t get someone to see her for almost three days. During that time, she prayed over her baby.
“God, you’re in control of whatever is going to happen now. I know that you will always use for good, even if it’s hard or even if it hurts, so God, just be with me now and continue to give me Your peace and continue to give me Your grace when I do fall short,” PenaVega prayed.
After having an ultrasound, PenaVega found out that her baby was “totally fine” and that the cause of the blood was a 4-centimeter tear, an issue she had dealt with while pregnant with Rio, 2.
PenaVega was told not to move in order to heal the tear, which she found “frustrating” and difficult, as she was “going through the worst morning sickness I had ever gone through. What I was going through…was so rough on my body and I really do feel like it slowed down my healing process of this tear because I would just be hovered over the toilet or the sink.”
“It was really miserable and I was really frustrated because I just wanted to heal. I wanted to know for sure my baby was going to be safe. I wanted to know that I’m going to be safe,” she continued.
During that time, PenaVega leaned on her faith. She shared one of her prayers: “God, you’re going to stretch me through this, and I’m going to grow through this.”
PenaVega and husband Carlos have spoken about the struggles pregnancy can put on a marriage.
“A lot of women are like, ‘I don’t care, whatever.’ I’m like, ‘No, he really does have to give up a lot,’” she told Us Weekly. “Husbands do have to give up a lot.”
Carlos added that he definitely doesn’t give up “as much” as his wife, adding that the baby is “a decision that we made together. We’re excited.”
The couple share Ocean, 6, Kingston, 4, and Rio, 2, and have spoken about what it’s like raising children as they work in the entertainment industry.
“Obviously, this industry is not set up for faith-based people,” PenaVega told Fox News. “It’s not really set up for families. I mean, if you think about it, most of the time families are leaving for months at a time. They’re split up. It’s really hard. We’ve really found a special way to make it work for our family. And because our kids are growing up seeing how it works for us.”
