Alexa PenaVega Uses ‘Intimacy With God’ to ‘Steady an Anxious Heart’

When plagued by the troubles of this world, actress Alexa PenaVega uses her relationship with God to calm her anxieties.
In a question asked on her Instagram story someone wrote: “In the face of uncertainty, how do you steady an anxious heart?
PenaVega responded, “Intimacy with God.”
“I feel like that’s truly the answer for anything we face,” the actress continued. “Nothing else can fill that void. You can have all the money in the world and take all the fun trips… but it doesn’t answer truly quench that need for intimacy with our creator.”

Alexa and her husband Carlos are heavily involved with their church back home and even attend a discipleship group.
“I flipping love this group because the whole point of it is iron sharpening iron,” she said in a video on social media.
Her discipleship group reminded her of the story of the 12 spies.
“Basically, God tells Moses that he has this land, and it’s flowing with milk and honey, and it can be theirs if they want it,” Alexa explained. “So, Moses decides, instead of all the Israelites, he gets 12 of his spies, and they go and they check out this land. Now this land is amazing. The 12 spies come back to Moses and report of the land flowing with milk and honey, but then they also report something else. They come back and they’re like, man, the people of Canaan are huge, and this place is on such lockdown, we have no chance of being able to go in there.

“Now it’s funny, out of the 12 spies, there were two spies, Caleb and Joshua, who actually thought otherwise,” she continued. “They were like, ‘Yeah, sure, there are some big people there. And yes, it’s on crazy lockdown. The place is like a fortress, but we have God.’ And the other 10 guys were like, ‘No, these people are way too big. We cannot go in there.’ But Caleb and Joshua were like, ‘But we have God, he already said he would fight the battle for us.’ And then, those 10 spies got everybody else freaked out with them, and the land that should have been theirs just got left, and they wandered for 40 years, even though they were promised this land.”
Alexa finished the video by describing what we, as followers of Jesus, should be like.
“In a world full of the other ten… be like Caleb and Joshua,” she said.
