What We Know About ‘Family-Friendly’ Toys ‘R’ Us Competition Show

Toys “R” Us is heading to your TV screen with a new competition series from Fox Alternative Entertainment.
The show, titled TOYS “R” US FAMILY FACEOFF, “will seek families competing inside a ‘larger-than-life’ toy store and will integrate a range of nostalgic and popular trending toys and games from classic toy brands,” per Deadline.
TOYS “R” US FAMILY FACEOFF will be made under the toy store company’s Toys “R” Us Studio division, as well as Known Originals, whose previous credits include Netflix’s JEEN YUHS: A KANYE TRILOGY and Amazon Prime’s MCDONALD’S ALL-AMERICAN GAMES.
“TOYS ‘R’ US FAMILY FACEOFF represents an evolution of the family-friendly competition genre, appealing to fans who love the iconic toys and games we all grew up with…and some new ones, as well,” Fox Alternative Entertainment head Allison Wallach said in a statement. “Add to that Toys ‘R’ Us at the center of it all, with larger-than-life challenges that integrate the world’s most favorite toys and games, it will be an hour of fun for the whole family.”
Toys “R” Us Studios President Kim Miller Olko, who will also produce the show, added, “Play is essential for everyone, no matter their age. It brings joy, fosters connection, and is simply fun. That’s why Toys ‘R’ Us holds a special place in our hearts. This show will capture that magic, offering a nostalgic nod while being fresh, dynamic, and full of surprises.”
TOYS “R” US FAMILY FACEOFF is the latest in a series of toy-themed shows and movies, most famously, last summer’s BARBIE.

The Daily Beast reported that toy company Mattel “is planning a slate of toy-related films,” including American Girl Dolls, Barney, Hot Wheels and Polly Pocket.
“Successful movies lend themselves to more movies,” Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz told Variety. “Our ambition is to create film franchises.”
