‘Amazing Freedom’: Danica McKellar Calls Her Faith ‘Such A Gift’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Danica McKellar calls her faith “the most miraculous, amazing, incredible gift in the whole wide world.”
“I’d always thought of religion and Christianity as being restrictive and limiting somehow,” the actress said of her faith journey. “But, instead, I feel the most amazing freedom.”
The WONDER YEARS actress found faith after fellow actress and friend Candace Cameron Bure invited her to attend a Passion play in 2022.
“It just hit me,” McKellar said of the experience. “Everything hit me. The Holy Spirit came to me…It was like a wave of love and understanding hit me.”
The actress spoke of her preconceived notions about Christianity and how she now wants to share her story with others who might have the wrong idea about faith.
“I just didn’t get to see…this is the most miraculous, amazing, incredible gift in the whole wide world. I just want people to feel that they’re not alone, that there’s love for you at any time, and it’s such a gift,” McKellar said.
The actress previously said she has been “discovering the pure part” of her faith “that’s actually the core of it.”
“It’s about your relationship with God, you get to have a personal relationship with God. And that was like such a revelation,” she said.
McKellar frequently shares the steps of her faith journey, like her commitment to reading the entire Bible this year.
“I’m reading the Bible all the way through this year. That is my goal, and it’s happening,” she said. “I also listen to the Bible on my phone. It’s so great. I do it when I’m putting my makeup on or folding laundry or whatever. So it happens. My life can’t get too busy to do it because I get to listen to it while I’m doing things that I would be doing anyway. And it’s just wonderful.”
Movieguide® previously reported on McKellar’s decision to read the Bible in 2023:
Danica McKellar updated fans on her 2023 commitment to read the entire Bible this year during a new episode of her Great American Community web series FAITH BITS.
“My goal is to read the entire Bible this year, and I’ve heard it’s very doable,” she started. “They say it’s like 10 to 15 minutes of reading a day.”
“I have a lot to learn,” she explained. “I’m still figuring it out.”
However, for McKellar, her goal “is not to understand everything.” Instead, her goal “is to read it all.”
She then shared that the goal of reading the Bible is not to understand the book itself, but to “understand God better.”
