AMERICAN IDOL Winner Noah Thompson Talks His Next Step

Noah Thompson won the latest season of AMERICAN IDOL, but he’s still getting used to his newfound stardom.

“I was just kind of shocked, you know?” Thompson said of his big win. “Truthfully, I came into the competition not even thinking I would get a golden ticket [to the Hollywood round of the competition], so to hear my name at the end, that was amazing.”

So, what is Thompson planning on doing next? Going home to Louisa, Kentucky.

“I want to see my family and just kind of let this settle in, you know what I mean?” the singer explained. “It’s going to be wild. I’m going to try to just stick to, you know, staying in the house for a little bit.”

Thompson’s journey to AMERICAN IDOL started with a helping hand from his friend Arthur, who worked alongside him as a construction worker.

“We [were] actually hanging up sheetrock at work and he told me he was going to sign me up for it,” Thompson explained. “I say, ‘No, you’re not.’ But he did it anyway.”

“As a kid, all I thought about was just playing music, being famous. But where I’m from, you don’t really get much opportunities,” he continued. “My family, they believe in me. The guys I work with believe in me. But I’ve just never believed in myself … I would have never signed myself up for nothing like this. I’ve never had that confidence. It’s pretty cool to know that somebody believes in you more than you believe in yourself.”
