Amy Grant, Trisha Yearwood To Host CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS Special

By Movieguide® Contributor

Amy Grant and Trisha Yearwood are set to host this year’s Country Music Association COUNTRY CHRISTMAS special.

“CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS rings in the holiday season annually with a night full of festive classics and one-of-a-kind musical performances,” the organization wrote on its website. “Now in its 14th year, the 2023 special is hosted by Amy Grant and Trisha Yearwood, with performances from some of today’s biggest Country Music stars!”

“It’s beginning to look like CMA Country Christmas!” Yearwood posted on Instagram.

“Filmed in Nashville in front of a live audience, the holiday special showcases one-of-a-kind musical performances of festive classics,” Nashville Music City reported.

The special will include performances from many other big names in country music, including “Lady A, Ashley McBryde, Jon Pardi, Lindsey Stirling, The War and Treaty, Zach Williams, [and] Lainey Wilson,” per Entertainment Tonight, as well as Grant and Yearwood.

The special will air on Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. It will be available to stream on Hulu and Disney+ the following day. Per Wide Open Country, “you can also watch on the ABC app on your smartphone, on ABC.com on your computer and via connected devices (Roku, AppleTV and Amazon Fire TV).”

This is one of the first big projects Grant is working on following a bicycle accident in 2022 that caused a traumatic brain injury.

“I feel fantastic. It’s been the quietest season of my life. And to get back up to speed and, within one week, ease into this experience here, it’s been incredible,” the singer said of her recovery.

She continued, “I think anytime you have a head injury, there’s an extravagance of emotion. So, anytime I start to get emotional, I just start wiggling my toes because I don’t want the dam to break, or it’ll just be a big ugly cry.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Grant’s injury:

Amy Grant has leaned on her faith as she continues to recover from injuries sustained during a bike accident.

Grant fell off her bike in 2022 after riding through a pothole and was unconscious for 15 minutes. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

When asked what kept her positive during this challenging time, Grant quickly pointed to her faith.

“It’s helped me not be afraid,” she explained. “And just to go ‘however this turns out, I believe I’m held by love.’”

Grant also credited her husband, country singer Vince Gill, for keeping her spirits up.

“He has just been so patient,” Grant shared. “Vince has a kind of way of grounding the space that we’re in even without saying a word.”

She continued, “I think early on I said, ‘What if I’m different, what if I’m not the same?’ and he said, ‘Hey, every day we wake up a little different, and we love each other, and it’s good.’”
