Anchor Shannon Bream: ‘Everybody is Created in God’s Image’

FOX News’ Shannon Bream dissects her newly released book “The Love Stories of the Bible Speak: Biblical Lessons on Romance, Friendship, and Faith.

Bream told CBN Faithwire, “There are so many good love stories in the Bible, and I thought, let’s mine those for some lessons. The world may tell us one thing about relationships and how they should work and for a lot of people that’s not working, so let’s look at what God had planned.”

Bream explained that as she continued reading her Bible that she noticed how many people in Scripture are flawed yet still teach many valuable lessons.

“Everyone short of Jesus in the Bible is a flawed character just like you and I are,” Bream expressed. “I ask for forgiveness every day, so … I love that we can learn through the flawed stories, too.”

Those are the stories that Bream dissects in her book and one of the main topics discussed is the Great Commandment, love God and love People.

Bream stated, “You and I believe that everybody is created in God’s image, and that immediately makes them somebody who is deserving of love and respect and kindness. Now, that doesn’t mean we have to agree on everything, because that’s not ever going to happen.”

Bream added, “But can we find ways to love our neighbor as ourselves.”

In addition, when writing her new book, Bream realized the powerful impact it had on her faith.

“It reminded me, from marriage to friendship, how much we really do have guidance from the Bible,” she addressed. “It reminded me how much I cherish my friends and thinking about how I’ve walked through the darkest things with them. God intends for us to be in community.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the trust she has in God:

Bream’s understanding of faith and how that has played a role in her life inspired the show.

“For me, it’s trusting in my Heavenly Father and the plan He has for my life. The world is full of trials and things that will rattle us every single day, so I need a place to find hope and courage. I can see how God has worked in the good and bad times in my life, and guided me through when I needed Him most,” Bream said in a recent Q&A with Fox.

The Bible makes it clear that those who believe in Him will face trials. For Bream, her faith carried her through her husband’s cancer diagnosis.

“It was a shock when my husband (then-fiance) got the call that he had a brain tumor. We felt like we had our whole lives ahead of us,” Bream said. “Our faith was a great comfort to us through that time. We literally got notes from churches we’d never visited, but someone had shared our story. People would write to say they’d added us to their prayer lists. It was very encouraging in a very dark time. Sheldon’s recovery was not easy, but I think it’s fair to say we both grew in our faith because of what he went through.”
