Andrea Bocelli’s Son Thanks Dad for Teaching Him This…
By Movieguide® Contributor
Andrea Bocelli’s son Matteo is thanking his father for instilling values like faith, family and forgiveness in him from an early age.
“It’s easy to forget them at the age of 20 or 70. Faith, family, love, forgiveness, home, prayer, serenity,” Matteo read aloud from a letter he wrote for Andrea. “None of these can be sold or bought, which is perhaps why I hear so little about them.”
He continued, “Today, more than ever, we need to understand this. So, it is for this reason that I wanted to express my personal thank you, and on behalf of those who, like me, try one step at a time each day to live a life that reflects these principles in our own personal journey.”
“Grazie,” Andrea replied.

Matteo is also a singer, and Andrea has discussed his son’s musical abilities.
“Technically [our voices] are very different, but there is one thing that makes them most similar: the attitude,” he told Billboard. “But that is something that you cannot learn, that cannot be taught. That is something you are born with.”
Matteo opened up about his musical journey in an interview with the Desert Sun, sharing that as a child, his music tastes ranged from classical and opera music to pop acts like Ed Sheeran and Eminem.
“Every time I ended a piano lesson playing Bach, Beethoven and Chopin, I would go home and play piano learning pop songs,” he said. “There was an idea of pursuing a pop career and even though I did studies in classical voice, when I started working on my own songs, that [pop] was my path.”
Now, he brings that mix of old and new to his own live shows.
“My early audience came from my father, and they probably expect something different from me. That music made my childhood and still feels authentic to me. That’s why my live shows are a mix of the opera music I’ve released and [the pop songs] I wrote,” Matteo said.
He continued, “When I was growing up, I obviously felt this need to open up, and go from performing for friends and family to bigger audiences. Today, I’m happy to say I’ve been able to travel through the U.S., South America — where I did my first arena show in Chile, — Australia and all over Europe. I’m enjoying every minute of it.”
