Angel Studios Shares Release Dates for BONHOEFFER, HOMESTEAD, DAVID

Angel Studios just shared the release dates for their upcoming projects during a presentation at CinemaCon.
The company announced BONHOEFFER, a WWII thriller, will premiere Nov. 22. Post-apocalyptic HOMESTEAD will hit theaters Dec. 20, while DAVID, an animated musical about the biblical King David, will be released Nov. 21, 2025.
“We are eternally grateful to our theatrical partners who helped champion our studio and enabled us to bring films that amplify light into movie theaters,” said SVP and distribution head Brandon Purdie. “There is no better place than CinemaCon to celebrate and give credit to our exhibition partners.”
Jared Geesy, chief distribution officer, added, “We are excited about Angel’s upcoming slate of films for 2024 and 2025, and look forward to pushing audiences to fully immerse themselves in powerful stories at movie theaters.”
Angel Studios has big plans for their upcoming movies. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the company told CinemaCon audiences that it “intends for its upcoming film DAVID to be the top-grossing animated film of all time.”
This is not an unreasonable goal based on the studio’s performance last year.
“In 2023, their first year releasing movies, Angel Studios made over $300 million worldwide,” AP News reported. “According to its leaders, over 100,000 people from 155 countries have invested nearly $80 million in projects released to date, including last month’s CABRINI.”

Angel Studios vice president Brandon Purdie believes his company’s unique moviemaking model is the reason their movies succeed despite little support from the outside.
“I’ve been doing this for 20 years,” Purdie told Christian Headlines. “And I think this is the first time I would say, ‘This is a game-changer.’ This is something that innovates the industry forever.”
Their movie SOUND OF FREEDOM shocked the box office, crossing the $100 million threshold this week…
“This is what the industry doesn’t have,” Purdie said. “I think there’s far too much aspirational product development [in Hollywood], too many people saying, ‘This is what an audience should want,’” rather than knowing this is what audiences will want.
