Christian artist Anne Wilson is so thankful to see where God has taken her song “My Jesus.”

In honor of the song’s anniversary, she took to Instagram to share her gratitude.

“Today’s the anniversary of ‘My Jesus’ going number one, and when I think about that, I’m reminded of all the stories and all the testimonies that have come from this song,” she began. “I am so grateful for how the Lord has used this song, truly. And whenever I first wrote it, I had no idea just what was going to come from it. The stories and testimonies of how God was gonna use this song to help people heal from the loss of a loved one or depression or anxiety or whatever the case is, and it’s been so cool to see how when you write a song and you fully surrender it into God’s hands, just seeing what he can do with it.”

She concluded by thanking her fans for their support.

“I want to thank all of you for being such a big supporter of my music, of my platform and my mission…I can’t wait to see where God I’d going to continue to take this song.”

“My Jesus” quickly became a No. 1 hit and launched Wilson to the top of the Christian music genre, but the song came from tragedy.

“This song is dedicated to the loving memory of my beloved big brother, Jacob,” Wilson wrote in the caption of her first recording of the song. “Thank you Jacob for always encouraging us to praise God, work hard, and always be kind. We love and miss you more each and every day.”

Movieguide® reported:

Wilson’s older brother, Jacob, died in an accident when he was 23. Wilson, who was 15 at the time, said that she went to the piano and sang “What A Beautiful Name,” and later sang the popular Christian song at her brother’s funeral.

In 2017, Wilson posted her first YouTube video in honor of her brother.

The song points listeners to Jesus as their source of help in the midst of difficult circumstances, and many fans have found comfort in the lyrics.

“We lost our son 3 yrs ago. He was 29, watching your testimony on the video to the song was sooo relatable ? makes me cry every time. The song is so powerful  I Thank GOD everyday for his Grace, Love and Strength, even though it’s still hard ??” one user shared.

Another person said, “I remember when I first heard that song, I loved it. It remains one of my favorite songs of any genre ever. I’m so glad you wrote it and God brought it to the world stage to be heard by millions. What a blessing and what an awesome God we serve!! Amen!”

Wilson previously shared how “My Jesus” helped one woman decide not to commit suicide. Movieguide® reported:

Anne Wilson recently revealed how her award-winning hit single “My Jesus” saved a fan from suicide.

“There is a lady that came up to me at the show the other week, she was struggling with cancer and lost all her hair…She said she was ready to commit suicide and end her life,” Wilson told Christian Headlines.

“But she was in the car, and she heard My Jesus come on the radio, and she decided to give her life to Jesus and let go of those thoughts,” Wilson added. “Now she’s living free in Jesus—still fighting cancer, but knows that she has a purpose and a reason for being here.”

For Wilson, this woman’s testimony reveals the power of music.
