In a new interview, singer Anne Wilson shared how her love of Jesus influenced her early career goals, her friendship with fellow Christian artist Lauren Daigle, and what she has planned for the next year.

“I wanted to be an astronaut,” Wilson laughed. “When I became a Christian when I was in seventh grade, I really just fell in love with Jesus and I started to see His creation as something that was just really powerful and beautiful.”

She continued, “I just became fascinated with space…I think it was just knowing that we can see His beauty on Earth, but only very few get to see it in space.”

Wilson also revealed what the next year will hold for her career.

“Definitely still doing what I’m doing now,” she listed. “Touring, a new record out a year from now would be amazing. A new chapter of songs is really what I’m most looking forward to, and what I hope is out a year from now.”

The singer called her next album “a new season of sounds” and promised fans a “more country” sound.

Wilson then talked about her friendship with Daigle.

“She’s my favorite!” she gushed. “I love her so much. She’s amazing! We met through a mutual friend and she really is just, like, the sweetest person.”

Wilson called Daigle a “mentor,” adding, “She really felt like she needed to be there for me in that space…and she’s just the best.”

Wilson has become a majorly successful recording artist, racking up more than 600 million streams on her album My Jesus. This success led to her recent partnership with UMG Nashville.

“I am so excited to partner with UMG Nashville,” Wilson told Music Row. “Over the last two years, I have watched God open doors for my music that I could never open for myself. I see these new partnerships as another open door to share the message of hope, faith and the love of my Jesus to an even broader audience. I can’t wait to see what happens next!”

She will kick off her “My Jesus” Tour this fall, stopping in 20 cities across the country.

“God is so incredibly gracious!” Wilson said of the upcoming tour on Instagram. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share my music and faith with y’all this Fall.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the role Wilson’s faith has played in her career:

Anne Wilson, “My Jesus” singer-songwriter, recently shared how God used the tragic death of her brother in 2017 to launch her music career.

“Losing Jacob changed everything for me,” she said in a recent CBN interview. “I gained a new perspective on life that I had never had. I realized how short these years on earth are, that heaven is the final destination, heaven is where I want to work towards. I want to tell people about Jesus. I want to work as hard as I can to introduce Jesus to as many people as I can.”

However, Wilson never thought that she would share the Gospel through music.

However, “I sang at my brother’s funeral for the first time in front of anyone and that was really the moment that I realized God was calling me to music, God was calling me to spread His name, to spread His love around the world,” Wilson shared.
