Anne Wilson knows that God will reward her for trusting Him in the hardest of times.

“I’d say for those that are walking through tragedy and loss, it can be so hard to trust the Lord,” she said on a recent episode of PRAISE. “Just like he said, that is what God wants. And in my life, I’ve never really had a moment where I had to choose to trust God.”

“You know, my life had been great. I grew up in a great house and great family, and nothing tragic had happened until that point,” she continued, referencing her older brother’s death. “But when I was faced with tragedy, I knew in my heart to choose to trust God. I believe that God knows how hard it is for us to trust him.”

She said God knows every detail about us and what’s going on in our lives.

“I would encourage you to lay all that you’re carrying at His feet and to choose to trust Him with your full self,” the “Rain in the Rearview” singer said. “When you do that, He’s going to lift this weight off of you. He’s going to bless you abundantly, and you’re going to look back and see by how you said ‘yes’ and how important that was.”

“I think there’s a massive importance in choosing to trust God and also choosing to worship Him in the midst of your pain and your grief,” she explained. “And I truly believe, and I witness to the fact that He blesses you for that.”

Wilson is speaking from a deep personal experience. When she was 15, she lost her older brother, Jacob, in a car accident, Grammy Awards reported. It wasn’t until she performed “What A Beautiful Name” at his funeral that she knew she wanted to make an impact for God through music.

“My life forever changed in that moment,” the 23-year-old said. “I already knew that life was very short on this side and that we only have a small window of time here so I wanted to make mine count.”

“It was a special, but really hard moment that has gone on to spawn my entire career,” she continued. “Hearing just how much my songs have impacted fans makes me feel like his tragedy wasn’t wasted and that it was used for good.”

When Jacob died, she began to understand how to honor God with her life.

She knows “what it means to use my time on Earth for the kingdom of God, to grow it further and further for His glory.”

Wilson is certainly doing just that. She’s singing and writing songs that are all about God. She shares his light through words and example wherever she goes.
