Anne Wilson recently revealed how her award-winning hit single “My Jesus” saved a fan from suicide.

“There is a lady that came up to me at the show the other week, she was struggling with cancer and lost all her hair…She said she was ready to commit suicide and end her life,” Wilson told Christian Headlines.

“But she was in the car, and she heard My Jesus come on the radio, and she decided to give her life to Jesus and let go of those thoughts,” Wilson added. “Now she’s living free in Jesus—still fighting cancer, but knows that she has a purpose and a reason for being here.”

For Wilson, this woman’s testimony reveals the power of music.

“There’s so much power in music, especially music that glorifies Jesus,” Wilson said. “And so just thinking back on when I wrote that song, and then to now see how many lives it’s impacted, it’s an honor, and I’m so grateful.”

She wrote “My Jesus” out of the tragedy of her older brother’s death in a car accident.

While written out of Wilson’s grief, this song has connected with listeners, winning a 2022 K-LOVE Fan Award for Breakout Single and helping the singer win Female Artist of the Year.

“My Jesus” is also up for Song of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year at the 53rd-annual Dove Awards.

Wilson believes that God has used this chart-topping song in her fans’ lives, and her upcoming book reveals her heart behind her music.

“When I started to see how God was using that song, I really saw the importance of sharing the story behind it,” Wilson said of the book.

“I wanted to share the story moment by moment, page by page, chapter by chapter [and] share with people what God did in my life and how he brought me to where I am today so that I can stand on the stage and can sing about my Jesus,” she added. “Our testimonies are so important.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the success of Wilson’s “My Jesus”:

Nineteen-year-old Anne Wilson’s song “My Jesus” became an instant hit and recently reached No. 1 on the Billboard chart for Christian music.

Wilson, who grew up in central Kentucky, recently shared her heart behind the song that has garnered millions of views on Facebook and YouTube.

In a recent Instagram post, Wilson explained that she trusted God with the song that Christian artist Matthew West co-wrote.

“It’s been almost 4 months since ‘My Jesus’ was released to the world,” Wilson wrote. “I remember praying that night and asking God to do whatever He wanted with the song. I had done all I could do on my end and so I surrendered it to Him. I went to bed that night knowing that whatever the outcome was, He had it.

“Flash forward almost 4 months, God ended up taking this song and doing big things with it. He began to lead people back to Him through it and began to save lives & He is continuing to do so today,” she continued. “I stand in awe of His goodness every day. I stand in awe of the fact that He chose me for this specific mission and man am I so grateful. Thank You Jesus for the way that you love us so deeply and intimately. Thank You that You multiply the desires of our hearts. Thank You that You’re rescuing the broken through ‘My Jesus’. I will never have the words to express my gratitude to You. All glory goes to You, my precious Lord & Savior.”

In a recent interview, Wilson added: “It’s been a whirlwind of emotions. Just thankfulness and gratefulness, watching God take my story, which was something so broken, and turning it into something so beautiful.”
