Are You Caught Up on COUNTY RESCUE’s Exciting New Season?
By Movieguide® Contributor
The cast and crew of COUNTY RESCUE promised fans an “exciting” and faith-filled second season.
“We’re not just about the high-stakes calls,” producer Shawn Boskie told The Christian Post. “We’re interested in how these characters navigate faith, ethics, and friendship in a job that can be both rewarding and heartbreaking. […] Our goal is to honor EMT workers. We didn’t want to make this a cartoon, but at the same time, we don’t have the same gritty, mainstream sorts of emergencies that you might see on network shows, it’s really more focused on the team.”
Boskie continued, “We really try to put God in the story, but He’s not just a reference […] we see Him working through some of the situations that a couple of the characters that are faith-oriented would realistically face.”
Brett Varvel, who plays Andy, gave fans some plot details, sharing “Viewers are going to expect a continuation of [protagonist Dani’s] story, her struggle with this calling that she’s felt from the Lord.”
“There’s romance going on in and around her life,” he continued. “And then every single character this season is going to come into contact with that struggle of their own ideology, their own faith, and how it’s going to impact their current circumstances of life. You’re going to expect a lot from Andy and Ashley this season, which is exciting.”
Kristin Wollett portrays Ashley on the Great American Family drama. The actress shared that her character will also undergo some challenges as well.
“She’s faced with a decision that is just difficult for her. She’s not completely sure where the Lord wants her to go, where the Lord wants her to be,” she continued. “So you’ll see her wrestle a lot through that — trying to not only please Andy and her friends at the station and be true and loyal to her job, but also to be true to the path that God wants her to walk.”
Varvel teased some drama for his character, too, revealing, “There’s a breaking point, without giving spoilers away, where he has to really be vulnerable for the first time in a long time.”
Movieguide®’s review reads:
COUNTY RESCUE has a compelling storyline. The main character is a strong Christian who feels called to help other people. Episode 2 is more captivating, with better dialogue. However, Episode 1 has a better cliffhanger. Both episodes have a strong Christian, moral worldview. They have heartwarming scenes that stress reliance on God, family and marriage, and having a good work ethic in a job helping other people under great stress. COUNTY RESCUE continues to be a wholesome series with positive, inspiring values.
Wollett and Varvel also shared that COUNTY RESCUE has given them a new appreciation for real-life first responders.
“I have such a deeper appreciation for them,” Wollett said, with Varvel adding, “Gratitude is the biggest word that comes to my mind.”
He continued, “It’s a heavy weight to bear, and I can’t help but be grateful for these people who go through that willingly for us. It’s a great picture of our Savior, who took upon Himself the sin of the world and humbled Himself to serve rather than to be served.”

Wollett recently spoke to ChurchLeaders about how she prayed for another season of COUNTY RESCUE.
“I wanted this Season 2,” Wollett said. “Like I wanted this to continue and prayed and prayed and prayed about it. And then we got it, and it was one of those things where I was reminded, like sitting on set Season 2 every day, being so grateful. I was so thankful to sit in the hair and makeup trailer and to sit on set with these people and to talk with directors about what we’re doing in scenes.”
She continued, “It was just such a cool thing [because] sometimes that doesn’t happen. Sometimes, we pray and we want something so badly, and it doesn’t happen…God showed me that he’s very faithful and he knows the desires of my heart, and it was a pretty amazing thing.”

COUNTY RESCUE was renewed for its second season last summer.
“COUNTY RESCUE exemplifies our commitment to uplifting content that celebrates faith and family in an engaging way. The series highlights the heroism of EMTs and first responders, focusing on their character development and inspirational stories rather than solely on life-threatening incidents,” Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media, said in a statement. “The exceptional talent of our cast, producers and directors are the driver of the show’s success, and they make it a pleasure to announce the renewal for a second season.”
