Auburn Basketball Star ‘Would Have Jeopardized So Much’ if He Didn’t Trust God
By Movieguide® Contributor
Auburn men’s basketball star Dylan Cardwell has had one of the best seasons of his career, and he’s grateful he trusted God’s plan for his life rather than his own.
“If the Lord would have allowed me to go to the NBA at the age of 19, I mean, I wouldn’t have a quarter as much as what I have now,” Cardwell told Sports Spectrum’s “What’s Up” podcast before adding, “whether it be my foundation in Christ, whether my younger brother being here at Auburn with me, the girl that I met, who is my girlfriend now, just the lessons the Lord has given me, chilling with Dylan wouldn’t be a thing. I wouldn’t be cemented in Auburn history.”
“I would have jeopardized so much by going at my own pace,” he continued. “And I try to tell people like there’s peace in the journey, there’s a purpose in the journey, prolonging our journey just because He’s adding things on to us and taking things away from us. He’s refining us like silver so that we can be better stewards of the blessing we get.”

Cardwell often uses his social media to be an outlet for Jesus. In a new video posted on his Instagram page, he shared his journey of basketball from high school to college.
“In John 15:5, Jesus states, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing,'” Cardwell wrote in the caption.
“Thank you Jesus for leading me to salvation and continuing to gift me with a platform to continue to Glorify your Holy Name,” he added.

Cardwell also teamed up with the Scarlet and Gold Shop to create merchandise with the saying “Be Where Your Feet Are” which is inspired by the Bible verse, Matthew 6:7: “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
That verse “serves as a constant reminder to Auburn basketball’s Dylan Cardwell & he wants to share that reminder with the Auburn family!” the Scarlet and Gold shop wrote.
