How This Auburn QB Keeps Christ ‘No. 1’ Amid Football Season

As a starting quarterback at a big power five school, the pressure to perform is high, but for Auburn quarterback Hank Brown, Christ keeps him grounded.
“I try to keep my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the center of my life, and it’s something that correlates into my entire life,” Brown told the “Locked on Auburn” podcast. “As far as football goes, I’m playing football and God’s put me in this situation to glorify and honor Him and to use my platform to do that. This is a great opportunity to pour into my teammates. Any praise or glory that I get, it’s not me. God has blessed me with what I have.”
“Number one for me is my faith and everything correlates around that,” he added. “That’s a huge part of my life and I’m trying to exemplify that, love others the way that Jesus loves.”
In his first start for the Tigers, “Brown completed 17 of his 25 passing attempts for 235 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. One of his two third-quarter touchdown passes came when he rolled out of the pocket and, under heavy pressure, rifled a pass to tight end Micah Riley in the back of the end zone,” Sports Spectrum reported.

After the game, Brown gave all the glory to God.
“Honestly, to God be all the glory,” he told the media. “Our (team’s) theme this week was, ‘Soli Deo Gloria’ and it means, ‘God gets all the glory.’”
“Going into this game, it’s special because everything that we have is a gift from God. So I just want to give Him the glory,” Brown added.
He’s open about his faith on social media, too. In a post from last year, Brown wrote, “Gods timing. Not mine,” accompanied by a picture of him and a teammate kneeling in prayer.
“Not afraid of the next chapter because I know the author!” he said in a post last month.
