BATMAN: CAPED CRUSADER Animated Series Gets Release Date

Prime Video is all set to release its new animated series, BATMAN: CAPED CRUSADER on Aug. 1.
“The streamer will release all 10 episodes of the first season,” Variety reported May 9. “The series is a reimagining of the Batman mythology from executive producers J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves and Bruce Timm. Ed Brubaker, James Tucker, Daniel Pipski, Rachel Rusch Rich and Sam Register also serve as executive producers for the series.”
The show’s logline reads, “Welcome to Gotham City, where the corrupt outnumber the good, criminals run rampant and law-abiding citizens live in a constant state of fear. Forged in the fire of tragedy, wealthy socialite Bruce Wayne becomes something both more and less than human—the BATMAN. His one-man crusade for justice attracts unexpected allies within the GCPD and City Hall, but his heroic actions spawn deadly, unforeseen ramifications.”
The Hollywood Reporter provided a rundown of the classic characters fans can expect to see: Batman/Bruce Wayne, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Commissioner Jim Gordon and Clayface.
Prime recently dropped a first look at the characters.
CAPED CRUSADER stems from the ‘90s animation, BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, which won several Daytime Emmy Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award. The new show will harken back to a time closer to Batman’s genesis, as it’s set in the 1940s.
“James [Tucker, character designer] and I are both really big fans of movies from that era, so we decided to really lean into that in terms of the clothes, the cars, the architecture, and the level of technology,” Timm previously told EW. “Early on, we decided there would be no computers and no cell phones. That changed everything.”

Prime Video just announced its new spring release—THE BAXTERS.
“The series stars and is executive produced by actress, producer, and New York Times best-selling author Roma Downey as the family matriarch, Elizabeth Baxter,” Patheos reported. “Also starring is Ted McGinley (SHRINKING, MARRIED…WITH CHILDREN) as John Baxter. THE BAXTERS is slated to stream spring 2024 exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.”
“The deal with Prime Video comes as Amazon has heightened its focus on faith-based, family-friendly, and uplifting series and movies,” Variety reported.
