Bear Grylls Talks Taking THE CHOSEN Into the Wild

Survivalist Bear Grylls discussed his new show, THE CHOSEN IN THE WILD, which sees him partnering with the cast of THE CHOSEN to take on adventures in the wild.
“CHOSEN IN THE WILD is me taking some of the most loved actors on THE CHOSEN out into the great outdoors, having an adventure with them and getting to know their story along the way,” Grylls told Movieguide®. “It’s what I do for, you know, our normal network show, the RUNNING WILD show; we do it with Hollywood folk and sports stars and musicians.”
“We’ve never done a kind of spinoff of it before, which I suppose is what this is. You know, it is a beautiful collaboration with a really powerful brand of people doing something incredible in the world. So, I’m really proud of it,” he continued.
As with Grylls’ other shows, CHOSEN IN THE WILD provides a real, honest look at the actors as their guard comes down while they take on a survival adventure. Grylls, however, is extremely proud of this show because it digs deep into the faith of the cast of THE CHOSEN.
“I think you will be really surprised at actually the personal journeys of faith that the actors have been on just through this experience of acting it out [on THE CHOSEN],” Grylls said. “You know, I haven’t met any of them to whom it’s just a job. And that’s rare. Most people are — you go and sit on a panel of, you know, a TV show; it’s all just a job. They might love it and have fun, but this is different.”
“These guys had really moving, powerful stories,” he continued. “Even like Lisa’s, you know, her story is transformational what THE CHOSEN has done to her connection with Jesus has been in her own life, in her real relation with Jesus has been incredible. So, the sort of real, in-depth heart stories and struggles as well, that the show has also brought has been amazing to hear.”
CHOSEN IN THE WILD is part of THE CHOSEN’s new 5&2 studio which announced multiple new series during this year’s ChosenCon.

A fusion of two very unique shows is in the works, and adventurer Bear Grylls is excited for the collaboration.
In a new series, Grylls will take several members of the hit series THE CHOSEN on a wilderness adventure.
“In each episode, Grylls ventures into the wild with one cast member while exploring their personal stories and diving deeper into their own perspectives on the series and the characters they portray,” a synopsis of the show reads.
Titled THE CHOSEN IN THE WILD WITH BEAR GRYLLS, it will feature THE CHOSEN creator Dallas Jenkins, as well as Elizabeth Tabish who plays Mary Magdalene, Paras Patel who plays Matthew, and Luke Dimyan who plays Judas.
Other new projects include “a series based on the Acts of the Apostles, a three-season series about Moses, a limited series about the life of Joseph, [and] ‘The Chosen Adventures.'”
“Nearly every time I encounter a viewer, they say something about wanting more Bible content from us. I always say we need to not get ahead of ourselves and remain focused, but now we’ve got a robust enough team to expand our efforts,” said THE CHOSEN’s creator Dallas Jenkins.
