Why Ben Napier Supports American Businesses: ‘American-Made Matters’
By Movieguide® Contributor
HOME TOWN’s Ben Napier is committed to supporting American businesses and products.
“At Scotsman Manufacturing, we know the importance of building community and the importance of building things together with our community,” he said in a recent Instagram video about his manufacturing company. “We know that small towns are made by the things made in small towns. At Scotsman Manufacturing, we know that American-made matters.”
Napier launched Scotsman Manufacturing in 2022 alongside his wife, Erin.
“Yesterday we finally announced to the world the launch of Scotsman Manufacturing,” she wrote in an Instagram post about the company. “This was a tiny dream deep inside @scotsman.co [Ben] from childhood: sparked the first time he watched TOMMY BOY.”
Erin continued, “Then as a teenager, when he saw the shuttered furniture factories of NC where he grew up. Then as we began the work of revitalizing Laurel with our best friends, family and partners Mallorie and Jim Rasberry and Emily and Josh Nowell. We knew our store would sell exclusively American-made wares and our partnerships would lift up the American worker.”
Scotsman Manufacturing is based in the Napiers’ hometown of Laurel, Mississippi, and has created jobs for locals.
“Having a group like that is a testament to this area. Very similar to the Sandersons and the Howards and the Thermo-Kools, and kind of the homegrown businesses it fits right in into this community as well,” Ross Tucker, President and CEO of the Jones County Economic Development Authority, told WDAM.
He continued, “Those 85 jobs are making above average wages, as it relates to here in the state. So it is a wonderful thing to have that opportunity. And again, have that element here to help blend in with the current manufacturing and everything that’s currently around here…it’s just one more piece of the puzzle that kind of fits right in into the community.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Scotsman Manufacturing:
Ben and Erin Napier of the popular HGTV show HOME TOWN announced the launch of an inspiring new venture to add to their growing family businesses.
The Napiers are determined to revive local businesses through their own work and Scotsman Manufacturing helps bring to life something that was planted in Ben’s heart when he was a child.
In an interview with High Point Market, Ben shares, “While I was in high school in Reidsville, North Carolina my family would drive through furniture factory towns on our way to the mountains. The memory of seeing shuttered plants and hearing how the loss of a major employer had decimated families made a lasting impression on me that’s why Erin and I have focused our lives on building up our hometown of Laurel, Mississippi.”
