Big Changes Come to SHARK TANK Season 16
By Movieguide® Contributor
Big changes are coming to the hit ABC show SHARK TANK.
Daniel Lubetzky has been promoted to a full-time Shark and will join the panel of other Sharks, which includes Robert Herjavec, Daymond John, Kevin O’Leary, Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran and Lori Greiner.
In a recent Instagram post, Lubetzky celebrated his new role.
“After five seasons as a recurring Shark on SHARK TANK, I’m excited to share that I am officially joining ABC SHARK TANK as a regular Shark!” he began. “It’s an honor to be part of a production that continues to educate, entertain, and unite Americans behind the spirit of building together. I am so excited to be part of this fun, hilarious, exceptionally smart cast and crew. Most of all, I am looking forward to partnering with entrepreneurs from all walks of life as they come to Shark Tank for their chance to realize the American dream.”
“My mom’s still around and hopefully she’s proud,” he added, “and I hope my dad is looking from above and seeing not just what I’ve achieved, but how I achieved it by trying my very best to always follow the values that he taught me.”
Lubetzky concluded, “Now mark your calendar for the Season 16 premiere, kicking off Friday, October 18 at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT on ABC and streaming next-day on Hulu.”
GOOD MORNING AMERICA also reported on another change coming to the show.
“The forthcoming season also marks the last for Cuban, who said in November 2023 he intended to leave the show after the 16th season, saying, ‘It’s time,’” the outlet said.
“I love [SHARK TANK] because it sends the message the American dream is alive and well.” Cuban told the podcast “All The Smoke” last year when he announced his exit. “I feel like in doing SHARK TANK all these years, we’ve trained multiple generations of entrepreneurs that if somebody from Iowa or Sacramento or wherever can show up on the carpet of SHARK TANK and show their business and get a deal, it’s going to inspire generations of kids.”
The new season of SHARK TANK will air Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
Movieguide® previously reported on Cuban:
An entrepreneur himself, Cuban hit it big with an internet radio company, Broadcast.com, which was acquired by Yahoo! in 1999. He made roughly $2 billion from the deal, which he has since used to invest in numerous startups. He is also the longtime owner of the Dallas Maverick, buying the team in 2000.
Cuban joined SHARK TANK during the show’s second season as a guest investor before coming on full-time for season three onward. The show is currently on season 15.
Given his tenure on the series and his entrepreneurial background, Cuban has developed some tricks to determine whether an investment on SHARK TANK has a high chance of success.
“I just listen to them,” he said. “You can tell. Body language matters. The harder they try to sell, the worse the deal…When somebody walks in SHARK TANK, you can tell if they are trying too hard.”
“I have this rule: the longer the back story, the worse the deal. The minute you start telling me how hard it was for you, it’s hard for every…entrepreneur, tell me about your business, tell me why you’re going to be successful,” Cuban continued.
