Bing Crosby’s son is sharing his excitement about an upcoming album of Christmas songs from the iconic crooner.

“I’m very excited – the whole family’s excited,” Harry Crosby told Fox News. “I can’t believe we’re coming up close to 50 years since dad passed. We wanted to share a part of dad during Christmas and also share a part of him that many people may not know about.”

The album, titled “Bing Crosby’s Christmas Gems,” is a 14-track collection of familiar holiday songs and some rare tracks from Crosby’s archives.

“Our family had a great amount of input into this [album],” Harry said. “We haven’t heard some of these songs in a very long time. Some of these have been dormant for decades. It’s our way of telling a special story about our dad.”

Crosby’s daughter Mary also spoke about the album.

“Our family loves hearing Bing Crosby music everywhere we go around the holidays,” she said in a statement. “This new collection is so much fun because it includes many of dad’s less familiar holiday recordings. It brings back wonderful memories and has never been on an album like this before.”

Mary has previously spoken about the impact her father’s Christmas music has had on her and the rest of the world.

Talking about the hit song “White Christmas” with Smooth Radio, Mary called it “a wonderful song on a lot of levels.”

“It’s not just a beautiful Christmas carol, but it meant a lot to the soldiers overseas. And I think that was really important,” she explained. “I think it touched a chord in people at a time that they really needed to feel connected to home, and connected to family. And this song calls to that.”
