This Kids Show Topped 2024’s Streaming Charts
By Movieguide® Contributor
Family-friendly kids’ show BLUEY topped 2024’s streaming charts.
According to a new report from Nielsen, BLUEY was the most streamed show of 2024, with a total of 55.62 billion viewing minutes on Disney+.
The Australian series finished well ahead of runner-up GREY’S ANATOMY, which acquired 47.85 billion streaming minutes.
It isn’t a surprise that BLUEY performed so well, drawing kids and parents alike into the lives of a Blue Heeler dog family. The series’ focus on family and its uplifting, moral worldview earned Episodes 348 and 349, “Ghostbasket” and “The Sign,” a Movieguide® Teddy Bear Award® nomination.
These episodes are not only well animated but have top notch storytelling. The characters are all relatable by both children and adults. The entire purpose of each episode is to teach important life lessons for every person. “Ghostbasket” shows how the elderly should be treated. “The Sign” is about trusting in a divine plan even when life doesn’t go your way. Thus, both episodes have strong moral worldviews. “Ghostbasket” and “The Sign” are a delight for children of all ages, including parents and grandparents.

BLUEY plans to continue to keep those numbers up, announcing the release a feature film in 2027.
“I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on ‘The Sign’ in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that,” series creator Joe Brumm said. “I’ve always thought BLUEY deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together. I’m excited to continue to partner with Cecilia Persson, Tom Fussell and the team at BBC Studios, and Dana Walden, Alan Bergman and Disney to bring this new BLUEY story to the big screen.”
“Over the past eight years, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside an extraordinary team of more than fifty artists and producers whose talent, dedication, and creativity have shaped BLUEY into the beloved series it is today,” Daley Pearson and Charlie Aspinwall, Co-Founders and Directors of Ludo Studio, added. “Their work has paved the way for this incredible opportunity to expand BLUEY’s world onto the big screen. We’re excited to continue showing Queensland as a home for world-class talent and to share a new beautiful BLUEY story by Joe Brumm with families around the world.”
BLUEY also teamed up with LEGO. Beginning June 2025, the toy company will release six new LEGO BLUEY sets in the LEGO 4+ and LEGO DUPLO lines, BLUEY TV announced in a blog post.
