Why ‘Blurry Creatures’ Hosts ‘Look Into the Unknown Through a Biblical Lens’

Nate Henry and Luke Rodgers are sharing how they pair theology and the paranormal in their hit podcast, “Blurry Creatures.”
“Part of the reason the podcast started was because there were a lot of theologians that were starting to talk about these things,” Henry said while appearing on “The Storytellers with Andrew Erwin” podcast, referring to his podcast’s subject matter—Bigfoot, aliens and other unexplainable phenomena.
Their website explains, “On Blurry Creatures, we explore the mysteries surrounding creatures on the fringe. We look into the depth of the unknown through a biblical lens. This takes us down the trail of Bigfoot, Ancient Giants, The Nephilim, alternative history, and sightings of ‘beings’ that haven’t yet been proven to exist. We are out to find better answers for the questions surrounding these.”
“There are a lot of theology podcasts that are afraid to get paranormal, and there are a lot of paranormal podcasts that are afraid to get theological,” Henry explained.
Rodgers agreed, adding, “There’s a balance there that works. I think some of it is us just wanting to have fun…but there’s an intentionality about it as well. We always try to come back to the hope that exists because of the work of Christ.”
Speaking about the podcast’s guests, he said, “We’re not going to let somebody disparage Christianity or Christ, but at the same time, we’re trying to provide context and conversations around a lot of unanswerable questions.”
The pair explained in further detail how they integrate the paranormal and the Biblical in a recent Instagram post.
“Eye witness testimony is a very powerful part of our show. So many reasons to be skeptical. But people have personal experiences that they will never forget and chose to share their story with us,” they wrote. “The choice for the listener often comes down to if the storyteller is being honest. Do we trust the stories we’ve heard?”
The post continued, “In the broader more ancient context a lot of us have such deep faith in things we haven’t seen. And when it comes to the resurrection of Jesus himself, we have an account of hundreds of witnesses who all saw the miracle of his life after death. Some people remain skeptical to this very day. It’s part of the human heart to deliberate and mull over the evidence.”
“But we have a lot more than just eye witnesses when it comes to the history of Jesus. It’s easy to forget that sometimes. There will always be those who feel more connected to their faith in terms of heart and don’t feel as skeptical. But for a lot of people, they are wired to ask more questions and ponder longer. What we try to do here is bring as much data as we can to the table and let people decide. There is good reason to believe in Christ and we hope those on the fence keep pressing in and understand just who he claimed to be,” the post concluded.
