Boise State DL Serves ‘True Champion’ Jesus As Season Ends

The Penn State and Boise State football teams faced off in the 2024 Fiesta Bow — the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal — on Dec. 31.
The Nittany Lions scored a commanding 31-14 win and moved on to the CFP semifinal game.
But while Penn State came out on top, one Boise State star kept his eyes on Christ.
“First I want to start off and say all glory to Jesus Christ,” defensive lineman Ahmed Hassanein told the media in a post-game press conference. “He’s the true champion. Coach D, you changed my life. You changed my life. I did not know God until I got to Boise State. And I serve a true champion. Jesus Christ is the only true God. He died and rose from the dead three days later. That’s the champion that I serve.”
Boise State’s head coach Spencer Danielson keeps faith at the forefront for his team.
While on a podcast for West Ada School District, Idaho’s largest school district, Danielson stated, “I believe that you can still hold extremely high standards and still love Jesus and still do it the right way, treat people the right way.”

In May, Hassanein shared a video of himself being baptized. In the caption of the post, he quoted several Bible verses.
One passage of scripture was John 1:10-14:
He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
